I already know that Task Forces marked with the smaller marker on the map consists of only destroyers and patrol crafts, but are the Task Forces with the larger marker more probably consists of larger ships (e.g. Carriers, Battleships)? Im asking this because im on my 24th patrol in mid '44 and haven't encountered *any* carriers or battleships yet...
Btw the convoys marked on the map with circle are enemy convoys or just neutrals?
Where to look for carriers?

SH3? GWX? Other mods?

I thought you were playing standard SH3 - in which case, (I think) you will only see circles on submarines - small squares for single contacts and big squares for both task groups and convoys - and they are all coloured red, blue or green depending on enemy, friendly or neutral, respectively.

Historically, most British Fleet Carriers were in the Med by mid-44, or in escort of fast convoys either across the Atlantic or down the Atlantic between UK and South Africa, and beyond to Ceylon. You could find an Escort Carrier with a convoy or task group. Some were being prepared to join the British Pacific Fleet, to help out the US Navy (though they didn't want help).

...and for me a small diamond means a task force, while a large diamond means a convoy full of armed merchants. Look at the speed when in doubt. If it says medium or so, it is most likely a convoy. Fast or very fast means...
