All I can say is wow. We took off at 115 knts, accelerated to 170 then cranked a nice hard left and climed up to 10k ft at 260 knts. All I can say is that plane took such little input on the stick for it to react. And man ohhh man was it a nice smooth ride. I pulled some nice hard turnes at 15k, then the pilot took the plane back and did some rolls to show me the nice roll rate she has. Also it never flamed out or caught fire like the p-80 does in IL2....LOL I am glad so we did not have to use the ejection seats.

Did the A/C blow snowballs over your right shoulder? I got a back seat ride in a T-beast as a cadet down in the Florida panhandle, and the humidity made for some interesting weather in the cockpit.

Thanks for the pics and the story. It sounds like you had a good time.

You lucky dog! I have yet to add a vintage jet to my list of aircraft in which I have had the pleasure of flying.

I am kicking myself for not taking the camera up with me, with all the excitement I left it in the hands of my wife. As for the snowballs, yes, when we were under throttle I did notice the little snowballs on the left side, but on approach we throttled all the way back and it got very warm very fast. Thank goodness for the little vent hose on the left just forward from the throttle, it gave me the air I needed. I couldnt believe the glide rate of that jet, we coasted all the way from the far mountain in the background.

As for the cost, well no cost, I let the Airbase use 2 RV's for the airshow at HAFB this weekend so they gave us 2 rides in the t-33 and one in a b-25 and a few VIP passes to the show.

Awesome experience. That particular ride looks rare, too.

...I would have pushed the throttle back and forth really quick just to use the ejection. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

Way to go Spitin!! Back in ancient times (mid 1960s), I taught some Mexican AF pilots (exchange program with the USAF) on the finer points of instrument flying in T-33 flight sims.. I never got up in a real one tho..

You lucky dog! Looks like a lot of fun. Kids don't seem too impressed though, more like terrified.
