Here's something thats interesting. I overlayed the FB top speed chart over the one in the document.

Both are K4s with the DB605D. The one in the chart is 100kg lighter though, probably b/c it has no MW50 installed.

http://members.shaw.ca/fennec/chart.jpg

The FB K4 speed doesn't taper off at high altitude, like the one in the chart does. The critical altitude of the chart one is a bit higher than the FB one. I don't know what it means, but its intersting. Thx for posting the docs http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Here's a better example where both K4s are the same weight. FB 109K4 in blue, in red the equivalent data from the documents. Same engine again (DB605D).

http://members.shaw.ca/fennec/chart2.jpg

Above 4000m, the FB K4 is faster, below 4000m, the historical K4 is faster. I am curious to what causes this difference.

Fennec take a look at the dates on those documents, they are from development of K4, they are not correct for the production model. The same for Me-262 in those graphs.

Was the K-4 produced with the DB605 "L" engine?

You got graphs for production K-4s Huckie?

Guyz just wondering do any of you know a source with performance data for a 109 with the DC motor maybe a g10?

Wish one could be implemented in FB cos at the moment we dont have the fastest 109.....

Altitude is up the side and TRUE airspeed is along the bottom.

Before we go slashing the 109K's speed at altitude, it's worth remembering that there are a few inacuracies with the way FB models high alt - so I believe. Many of the Russian ac which were not optimized for even medium altitudes perform very well at alt - or they did the last time I looked closely. It might well be that the K is deliberately 'overmodelled' in order to keep the correct relative performance vis-a-viz the Soviet ac?

Anyway, interesting link which I shall keep.

Having looked at it again, it may well be they chose a simple linear relationship up to the crit alt, which gives a good approximation to the RL graph up to 4 km.
