pretty cool well modeled aircraft aren't they? I just picked up a beautiful mig 15. I also have a Stuka and a 109 g. They have spoiled me for hand built kits. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif I know what you mean though. I am running out of space to put them in.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

And I'm working on a 1:148 b-17 and p-38 but still a 1:18 b-25 man gonna need a bigger wall I wonder how much that will cost? maybe $150 to $ 200? idf they made a b-17 I'd pay for it and clear all the junk off the side of my room for it put a scale fence around it

Being a scale modeler I have resisted these things but a 1/18 B-25! I'm going for that one.
I'll bet I could tear it down and super detail it. Hmm... Thanks for the heads up.

I too have been caught in the 1/18 aircraft craze, ..... an Avenger, F104, F18, f86, Mig15, Zero, and a Corsair all dangle from the ceiling. My wife has infinite patience with all this, she would rather see me fiddle with the models than the real thing again http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

These are far from perfect, but any determined modeler could easily patch up the imperfections and really detail them out. Cases in point ...

1) The prop on the Avenger is really wobbly, while the prop on the Corsair is too tight a fit to spin freely. In both cases it's easy to modify the prop shaft to a metal shaft riding on real ball bearings (the beauty of a large scale ... you can use real parts!).

2) The wings on the F86 are the only ones with a good mounting system. Nice clean screwed-together fit, no wing sag, good alignment. The Mig and the F18's wings both simply snap in, and unless you glue them you can count on a little asymmetrical wing sag. This is easily fixed by running a small flat-stock steel bar through the fuselage and several inches into each with. Now they're perfectly level (ok, for you purists .... bend the bar a little so the Mig has the true slight negative dihedral).

I just love the fact that you can use real hardware on these things! Don't even get me going on lighting and rubber tires ....

Nice to have an understanding lady at home.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif Not perfect as you said but very very close to being there and hell if you are a perfectionist they are big enough to do what you like with them and get them just the way you want. The last time I saw the quality and size of these aircraft was in some museum and I am a pretty picky person..

whats cool about them

is a lot of cases there is a lot of space where the engine should be during assembly, it isnt too hard to fit a tiny hobby motor in there for the props. nothing RC mind you..just a small thing.

navlights are also transparent colored lenses, with some care you can wire up and install tiny LED's to em.

Have you finished that Panther yet Ivan? Tamiya is releasing a 1/16 full option R/C panther now. I'm already standing in line for it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif It will make a nice companion for my Tiger I.

Here is the new Panther.
