Hello All,

I have taken Wolfie's Console gauges and merged it with the outer portion of Ripud's Readable Compass gauge, and did a little color change on the Depth gauge as well. As you can tell from his Readme Wolfie is proud of his creation and rightfully so! I think Wolfies Console is excellent. I just prefer Ripbud's outer portion of the compass dial, and the color change I made. That's all.

Changes:

1) Outer portion of the Compass is from Ripbud's Readable Compass gauge.

2) Changed the color of the Depth gauge in the 100m to 160m range from red to orange(it's more like the original default color in this area now).

That's all I did. Original work is all Wolfie's and Ripbud's.

Here's some screenshots to whet your appetite:

- Before -

This one shows the compass before merging Ripbuds outer portion in it. Those DD's and Elco PT boat are looking for me! There's an Armed Trawler that's nearby that you can't see in the screenshot too. But they're looking in the wrong place. I'm well over to the left and on the other side of the C2 Cargo ship. They never even got a whiff of me! But I had to wait a little while before I could finish the C2 off.

You can download it here (http://home.comcast.net/~linuxrh/Wolfies_and_Ripbuds_Merged_Gauges.zip).

After having made this merge and then seeing it in my game I think it looks really great! I hope you think the same.

I also hope that it will soon be available at http://u-boot.realsimulations.com/

Enjoy!

Awesome, are you using some kind of graphics enhancer?

Hehehe.... nope! Just a Hi-Res Type VII B/C U-Boot skin(texture) by Sean. The texture size is 2048 x 2048, instead of your average 512 x 512 pixels! The file contains two .dat files, one for the B variant (NSS_Uboat7b.dat) and one for the C variant (NSS_Uboat7c.dat). The zip file is 33 MB. After unzipping, each .dat file is over 24 MB!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

The Hi-Res Uniforms and Medals mod is by Aces.

I also have various other mods installed but other than the Das Boot Officers bar mod by AIL as well as his Wake mod v2, they probably aren't that visible in these shots.

I run with 4x Anti-Aliasing and 16x Anisotropic filtering which probably contributes a fair amount to your question too. My WinXP Pro is heavily tweaked for performance.

If you're interested you can download my WinXP Optimization Guide here (http://home.comcast.net/~linuxrh/FS2004_and_WinXP_Optimization_Guide_V2.zip).

Hmmm - those u-boat pictures make the boat look pretty new - fresh paint effect I guess - now all we need is a mod that uses those skins when you leave port and the game's stock, weathered/rusted looking skins when you come back after a few rough weeks at sea on patrol http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hello,

Seems some folks might be interested in the sub skin by Sean that is in my screenshots. So here is info on where to get it.

---------------------------------------

Here is a link of sub skins done by the same guy(Sean) as the one in my screenshots. Hosted by Frederf220. There are numerous choices there for the Type II and Type VII, rusty, clean(like my screenshot), and camo, camo clean, and camo rusty versions. Note: This first link is not for the Ultra Hi-Res sub in my screenshot, see the next two links to download that particular one.

The Ultra Hi-Res skin by Sean in my screenshots (33 MB file for the Type VIIB/C) is here...

Small patch for this skin is here (http://home.comcast.net/~linuxrh/7c7bpatch.zip) .

Ultra Hi-res(i think) Type IIA is here...

Hey panthercules,

That would be so cool! There is a new mod out called SHIII Commander that changes files automatically based on date(and maybe time too), but unfortunately I don't think there is any way to get the game to 'change sub skins in the middle of a patrol'.
