Since Mr Maddox is around here, I'd like to know how much pressure his graphics coders are under to write new code in Nvidia's shader language. Nvidia has been making a lot of noise about how their future hardware will be designed for code written in thir propriety shader language, and naturally such code wouldn't run, or at best run poorly, on ATI's cards who, I'm sure will come up with their own version of this ploy by Nvidia to corner the graphics market. Do the 1C Maddox graphics programmers attend the conferences these two vendors throw together?

FB will work according to DirectX 8.1 and OpenGL 2.1 (I think).

all new 'features' from videocard companies like ATI and NVIDIA ofcourse won't be supported by FB.

who cares what kind of features they have. If it's not supported in either DX or OGL, you can forget it ever seeing it working in a game (a game which needs to support and use that new version of DX or OGL).

Dude, Vertex Shaders and Pixel Shaders are what seperate DX8.0+ from DX7.0 Shaders are implemented by using code, typically in C++. Nvidia wants to introduce new coding languages for their fully programmable next gen GPU. As you might know, code transports badly across platforms, especially when it's designed for a particular piece of hardware. So if Nvidia has a different language for it's GeForce line and ATI has a different one for it's Radeons, you'll get more glitches than you are right now if you don't use the same brand hardware as the guy who wrote the code oiginally did. Thats partly why Nvidia wants commercial developers to use it's QuadroFX cards while developing games. Anyway, if you're as dissed with UBI as you make yourself out to be, why do you care?
