Surprised the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight documentary shown on Friday (BBC2) hasnt been mentioned. Maybe it slipped under the radar.

Some very nice footage as you would expect.

The pilots talked about the great pressure they feel knowing how important the aircraft are.

One said if they suffered an engine failure over the centre of London they would have to stay with the aircraft and ditch in the Thames.

It showed a pilot taking a Hurri up for the first time. On his first landing I cringed as he bounced along the runway but his second attempt was beautifully done.

There was no talk of retiring them in a few years, they were adamant they should keep flying. "These aircraft can and will last forever."

Any aircraft will last for ever if you throw money at it and replace everything over the years......... As are 99% of the Spits flying today
