hi, i have been trying to figure out the difference between the various versions but so far i have failed to find any.

which is now the best overall FW fighter? i know doras climb is a but off base.

i think A8 seem a bit lighter and more stable than A9.

and i also believe the roll rate is a bit too high for all FWs now.

thankx

A9 has more powerfull engine and wide bladed propeller - it is faster and climbs much better than A8. It is also a bit heavier, so not much for acrobacy like A-4.
I feel the A8 is a bit underpowered.

ahan, so you say A8 is underpowered. how do you think we can decide which version is more potent?

which is more stable? is there a trick now - like it was in 1.0 (F8 had much better handling than all the others) - that a particular version is a lot more stable and not so snappy like the others?

well, if speed is a life, then D9 or A9 are the best to survive... but A5 seems to me very well balanced. Dora is great even for dogfights, especially above 3,5km, A8/9 with MK108 for hit and run. Just keep at least 2-3km alt to be able to dive when running into a problems...

Fw 190A-8: Mass produced in huge numbers. Several Rustatz variations. BMW801D engine of 1730 hp.

Fw 190A-9: Never entered series production. The handful of A-9's that were ever built had BMW801TS, BMW801TU and BMWTH engines of about 2000 hp. Engines were in short supply. Kommandogerat had some trouble with the TS engine.

IMHO, the Fw 109A-9 is in the same category as the MiG-3U: yes they really did exist and yes the few that were built did see combat, but they were as rare as hen's teeth. Fly them for fun. Fly them to get a competitive edge. But don't fly the A-9 and claim that it was commonly used. If you want realism, fly an A-8. S!
