I am using the GeForce 6200 video card and when I am in perfect mode the game stutters every few seconds. If I change from full screen mode to windowed mode then the game runs smooth in perfect mode. Is this because of a slow video card? and if I switch to a GeForce 6600 would it fix my problem?
I am running a 3.02 gig preccessor with 1 gig of DDR RAM.

I use a 6600 and run perfect with water 3, no stutters here, but frames drop when alot is goin on. I use fullscreen at res 1024...

I would recommend a 6800 if you can afford it, the 6600 probably isnt worth the extra wedge over your 6200

Even better if you can afford it get a 7 series card.

If you're still using Agp for your graphics interface, the highest you can go right now is the GF7800GS. It's not a leap-frog improvement over the 6800Ultra, but is faster and it's a new-gen card (and probably easier to find right now than a 6800 Ultra.

The best bang for your buck would be an AGP 6800GT and you performance gains would be remarkable.

Also Gainward have sneakily put an AGP adapter on there PCI-E 7800Gts and called it a 7800GS so not to piss of Nvidea. This model has 20 pipes like a full blown GT. The standard GS doesnt.

The 6200 is a basic low end video card. Its not bad...it does its job and it has quite a few features but speedy it is not. Don't look at the 7300 either as its basically the same sort of thing...if your playing this game and you want perfect mode performance than you have to get the middle or high end cards.

The 6600's are a great buy right now. The 6800GS and some of the other ones are pretty good too...a bit more expensive but there are options..

Some if not most GF6200 cards can be easily unlocked to 8pixel pipelines thus turning it completely to GF6600 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif. No hardware modifications needed, only a few clicks in a best gfx tweaking utility ever made - The RivaTuner...

So PM the lad and hook him up. If his card is one of the unlockables he can see what improvement a 6600 would produce and mayhaps save some money to boot.

I am running a HIS X850XT AGP which is a touch faster than the 6800 and a good buy at the moment. I have had no problems in IL2 with it.

Actually I'm thinking of making it public, many ATI & nVIDIA cards can be unlocked, so I hink it could be usefull(save money) to people. I'll do it tomorrow as it's very late here now and I'm beaten... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

Thanks for all the input on this subject. After doing some pricing it looks like the GeForce 6600 is all that I will be able to aford at the moment. I found some GeForce 6800 cards in my price range ($120) but they are all PCIe and I need AGP which is more expensive for some reason.
I will keep looking though. If any of you find a good price link please post it.

Thanks!

6200 is not a gamers card, its for low end computers.

It certainly wont run in perfect smoothly.

Get yourself a 6800GS or X800 minimum if you want to run perfect.

6600GT may be ok too, make sure its a GT tho and not a vanilla 6600.

I used to run perfect on a 9700 pro and ran smooth.

I'd certainly not look at anything under what you suggested though.

Even a 9700 Pro is nearly as fast as a 6600GT mate.

Still damn good cards in fact.

The 6200 however is a lot slower.

OK, After deciding to go over my budget a little I ordered this card:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/ite...No=1782292&CatId=935 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1782292&CatId=935)

Its the 6800 GS for $179 US. Thanks for all your input and I hope this card will do the trick for my game.
