Hiya,

I decided some time ago that as soon as the patch appeared I'd start the Experten Campaign. I flew the first two missions this morning, and it is great! The background material and ambience in the briefings is excellent, and the missions (at least so far /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif ) are mondo cool.

I really love flying the Emil. I can't imagine what people are talking about when they say it was "neutered" in the patch. Maybe they are using auto pitch. I highly recommend you don't. Managing the prop pitch manually becomes second nature in no time flat, and it allows you to really squeeze max performance out of your aircraft.

Gotta say the ammo loadout on the Emil is inhuman: 66 seconds of MG ammo!! Only 7 seconds cannon ammo, but still. It was enough to down two heavy bombers in the very first mission, and still have some cannon rounds left. I dunno how potent the MG/FF was in v1.0, but now they are deadly.

Anyway: Emil is great, and so is the Experten Campaign! Consider that a recommendation!! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Yes, I`m flying this campaign too... I really have the right feeling to be a "Maus" - unexperienced fighter pilot, trying to keep himself alive. The only thing I don`t like are all those ground attack missions. They`re great and historical correct of course, but I`ll never forget the feeling, when I saw the people running away from the truck I attacked... I flew the 22nd mission today, and they are all great!! And Emil is great plane too, you just have to treat him right. You have great chances even against newer Russian planes - Yaks and MiGs...

The only thing that dissapoints me is the non dynamic style of this campaign - I`d like to fly the same missions with FB pilot rooster and photos and kills-table and all the statistics.

Uh, that's a bad thing? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif From what I hear, there will be less ground-attack missions later in the campaign.

Damn straight! It's a great flyer, I love it. I'm getting so comfortable with manual pitch that I'll probably keep using it even on later models of 109. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Yeah, that would be nice. Probably impossible with the current game engine though...

Experten is one of the best Non-dynamic campaigns thus far. VERY detailed Briefings. If you don't know much about how the war in the East(barbarossa thru the German defeat at Stalingrad, you will be an Expert in historical knowledge by the time you complete Experten Campaign IF you Read All the Briefings.

I completed the 200 missions a couple of weeks ago...pre-Patch, obviously.(That's volume I, with volume 2 added on....I'm awaiting Vol3/final) I had 100 Kills, exactly....and Lots of ground stuff. Lost a couple of lives due to the deadly head-on AI acft (Pre-Patch), deadly Flak shot or two or three(again, pre-patch), and got shot down and captured 5 or so times.. Some of the biggest thrills are nursing a heavily damaged aircraft back to friendly lines; really makes you sweat..it's all about wanting to Live after a while in this campaign, and the arcade/john wayne attitude of trying to squeeze out an extra kill while you are damaged, or pushing your luck to try for a Big Day of 4 or 5 kills, just doesn't appear attractive.
