Wow, I'm in Boston, Ma, USA and it is flipping freezing cold here

So I'm warming up- turned the heat (cranky old forced hot water) to 75* and playing some songs while I hammer away on (Oh sorry- lovingly caress) my still unfininished campaign...

Can you name that tune?

here's some lyrics, give me the song and Artist:

"Can't funk with the feel, or with the other three
This motherlode, coming at ya all three D's"

Oh God, are you guys complaining again? How cold is it? Is your high in the negatives? Well?

meh, I'm not a meteorologist. I'm also not into "we got it worse than you" stuff

I'm just a guy who lives where it's cold right now. -15*F with wind chill is cold, no matter if you're a big real he-man, or a wimp like me

I think it got up to about 6*F yesterday if that's ok with you...I was too busy working outside after my paying job was done to read the papers

Chuck, I am not mad at you - I am sick of the way the east coast (major news outlets) likes to complain about how "cold" it is ALL OF THE TIME. Of course up here we get no coverage on the news since it is so sparsely populated, but galdanget enough already.

Negatives with windchills? Bah. -15? Here in ND that is sweatshirt weather (for some). There's a kid at my school who was wearing shorts when it was like -30 out. I wanted to punch him.

Anyway, don't get in a ***** just because I'm tired of the whining from the east coast.

Oh, high today is 0. Is it colder in Boston? I hate it when it gets so cold it doesn't even snow. I wish we'd get a big storm like the one you guys are getting. (Well, we got it yesterday, but it has grown)

Nah, it really was Clutch's BIG NEWS II

How about this one, which I'm listening to right now, and is older:

"I saw Poppa cry, when he thought that I would die. He said something was in his eye, I knew it was a lie"

a hint: they call him a lot of things, but one of them was "Mr. Dynamite"

Well, I feel for ya Chuck but..... up here where I am in NY, my hometown of Massena made CBS and the Weather Channel for being -27F this morning. A friend here where I am, just 18 miles east from Massena, had -30F at his house. Now that's cold. No idea what the windchill was tho. Thank God, we haven't hit what Minnesota had earlier this week...-54F.

BTW, I have seen the windchill here at -70 to -90.

Meh_cd, I'm not whining as it's the norm for this time of year, just like where you are. Besides, there's not a thing we can do about it but bundle up. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I like how alot of towns in NY have Greek names. (history buff)

Anyway, exactly. Thank you for not whining, oh great east coastern-er. I spose mine could be seen as reverse whining (heh), but meh.

SNOW SNOW SNOW. Wish we were getting the snow like you guys are.

Massena is NOT a Greek name. The town and village were named after Andre Massena, a French General. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif There is a village in Italy called Messina tho.

And most NY town names are after Indian, French, German and English names, with others thrown in too. Check you map and history more. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Ray Charles? Sorry, no...but this man and Ray Charles were both in a film that also featured Cab Calloway, although not one of these three were stars in the film

I listen to everything from Beastie Boys to Johnny Cash to Frank Sinatra to Stevie Ray Vaughan to the Only Band that Matters, so guessing my age based on my music might be tough http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

the Terry and Boscow show on public radio. They played bands like The Exploited and The Pixies
which was never played on mainstream radio. I remember how cool we thought it was to be listening to this underground music as we called it back then. Ahh... the good old days.

Chuck, I'm not pickin on ya by saying it was -27 here lastnight. I used to deliver new cars all around Boston and anything in the 20s or single digits was real coooold for that area. The humidity just from the ocean would make those temps feel real bad.

I got it confused with Messenia. Stupid mistake. The reason I thought it was so was because of Syracuse, NY. (is it even named after Syracuse in Sicily?)

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif I'm at work right now in Good Old Wormtown Mass. and we're getting about 1 1/2in of snow a Hour and it's about 5 degrees F without the wind chill... and that is warmer from yesterday's -1 degrees F without the wind chill.
Snow is going almost straight across.
My town looked like one of those Sci-fi Movies with no one else left on the planet as I was traveling into work tonite.
I'm just hoping that the day shift shows up so I can watch the Patriot's tomorrow play the Steeler's.

OOooo, close! "Poppa don't take no mess"

Woofie- I'm looking at cars that have snow up to the windows now at quarter to nine, and 10 more inches are predicted. They say that Wintrop may be evacuated, and the PD there abandoned their cars for privately owned SUVs. They are going to get 30' waves http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif This is going to be a worse storm than '78

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif Chuck_Older... I just came home from work and I live North of Worcester. Driving along you couldn't tell the road right in front of you from the side of the road. The wind is coming from all angles.
I just saw on the news that some parts are getting 2 inches of snow and hour.
If this don't slow down soon I'll have to agree with you about being worst than the 78 storm.
Hopefully the Coast doesn't get hit the same as in 78. But I see that the National Guard and Police are starting to evac some areas already.

I have a friend who just retired from the Coast Guard (at 29, he was in for 11 years). I bet he's pleased he's not on Station today!

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif One thing about the wind... when I went out to the truck at work... it was blown clean from the wind and I only had to clean off my drivers window. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
But driving today is some of the worst I've seen for awhile. It's the blowing snow... you just can't see 5 - 10 ft in front of you at times.
I'm going out and doing some snow blowing right now around the house to get a start on things.
One thing about todays snow though... it's fluffy and light not that heavy snow that does take out those metal sheds or building.

It supposedly got to -40F one night, but I haven't heard of anywhere nearby that got much colder than that. Its warm here now, +20Fs; warm enough to snow even.

Last Friday night, I drove through that storm for 2/3s of the way to Fargo. It was like nothing I've driven through before (think: "white out"). I heard you guys out East got twice the snow we did. Did you get the winds too? We had gusts up to 45mph or so. Not bad for this part of the country, but blinding with all the snow falling.

Without the wind chill it's has been 0 degrees to -11 degrees... we are not quite as lucky as Minnesota or upper N. York... LOL!
But coming home from work yesterday morning the snow was coming down so fast and the wind was blowning it around so much that a car just in front of me would dissapper at times and you couldn't tell the side of the road from the road in front of you.
We were having wind gust were I live of 45 mph or more... but on the coast by Boston they were having wind gust of 80 mph or more.
We had about 2 feet of snow in my area... but down on Cape Cod they had 3 feet in some areas.
Oh by the way... Nice picture of a Hughes XF-11.
