Actiontrip have posted their comments on Haze:

This may be what makes Haze interesting, with so many other games touting the glory of war, that this satire of conflict, if implemented correctly into the story, will set Haze apart, or at least give it more depth than the traditional "War is Great! USA #1!" mantra so prevalent in other first-person shooters. If the scene at the end, with the red shade taking over the player's view screen, is any sort of hint and indication of where Haze is going to go, we might be in for a real surprise: a game that shows the horrors of war, even if everything is all dressed up to make it palatable for the masses.

Good find - plenty of new details about the game. It seems to lack some of the comedy aspect from TS (put some in MP guys, there's a good developer), but sounds a lot more interesting than most other FPS' at E3, and the satire is great - takes a British developer to do this stuff, get in!

Here's IGN's take:

All very positive so far!

More from Gamespy:

Gamespy @ E3 (http://uk.ps2.gamespy.com/playstation-3/free-radical-project/708111p1.html)

Of all the booth demonstrations we've endured during this fetid sweat-fest, Ubisoft's antics rank as some of the more amusing: An actor looking like the steroid-free brother of John Cena played the role of a future recruiter for a gigantic multinational corporation known as Martel Global Industries. "Our Business is your future" the spiel began, with the overly enthusiastic military man blurting out his company's many business interests, including "military tech" and "air defense systems." Martel Global's latest attempt to placate humanity was a new performance enhancing supplement known as Nectar. "It's replaced coffee!" the recruiter bellowed, before quickly skipping a flow chart mentioning the heart attack cases the company was recently ignoring.

lol, this is getting funnier by the minute!

A small preview:

Rodzik€s Impressions

The first thing I noticed when the in-game demo of Haze began was the outdoor environment, specifically the foliage. The locale that the player was placed in was full of rich, green trees, plants, bushes, and other plant life, and everything looked amazingly realistic. It was obvious that bloom lighting effects, HDR, and complex shaders were working hard to make everything look superb under the simulated sunlight, and Free Radical succeeded completely.

The demo showed a four man team, of which the player was a member, taking out an entire unit of enemy soldiers. The other three players not controlled by the player himself were controlled very effectively by the artificial intelligence in the game. Weapons seemed to be pretty standard, and were effective as always. Unfortunately not much else was revealed about the game, so hopefully everything else about it will be as good as the graphics.

Vince€s Impressions

Haze had beautiful graphics in spades. The demo FPS level was set in an African jungle, and the rendering on the plants and trees was absolutely mesmerizing.

Though much of Haze€s plot was not revealed, it was discernable that the game revolved around a military-for-hire whose purpose was to €œexport€ democracy to other parts of the world in the not-so-distant future.

All the basic weapons were there: assault rifles, hand grenades, rocket launchers, shotguns, etc.

Cheers Kade. The next issue of the Official Playstation 2 Magazine, (OPSM2, UK) out 18th of May has a feature with FRD about Haze, so with any luck we'll get ne details then, although forums usually frown (at the very least!) on scans or direct quotes of magazine articles. I may be able to summarise, but it may also be quoted on sites in which case a link would be okay. We may not find out any more new details from there, but with any luck they'll have an interview http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif UK gamers keep your eye out.
