I have a 22 inch monitor , but 1400 x resolutions seems to be the highest il-2 supports , I run il-2 at 1200 x resolution because the next highest option isn't full screen that I hate. Is there a hack that can make the screen res higher to 1600 x resolution?

Seems to me you just have to open the ini file in the IL2 folder and manually edit the resolution. No real hack.

In your Il2 config

[window]
width=1280 <-change this to you preferable res
height=1024 <-same here
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0 <-Set this to 0
Use3Renders=0

The higher res you can run this at, the better it looks, but beware, you have to keep an EXTRA sharp lookout for enemy planes in the distance. At very high resolutions they are VERY hard to spot. I run at 1920x1200 and those bad guys can really sneak up on me if I am not extremely careful.
