Hi,

I've see lots of nose arts and I really like them! I was wondering how I could make a nose art too, I use the programm paint to make some texts on the Aircraft like my online nickname with IL-2 : ***** Pig, and put an image with it.

But I got some problems with that, first I want to put on a image on the aircraft, but the background of the image is white and I can't remove it, does someone know how I can remove that background, so I only have a body of a woman like you see on WWII planes?

The second problem is I can only save the paint as a 24-bits.bmp file, other .bmp's will effect the colors but IL-2 can't read the 24-bits.bmp , how can I save the file so IL-2 can read the file and I can use that paint for my aircraft and how do I save the file without changing the colors?

I'll you guys have some good advice! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

This guide is aweseome, i used it for the 1st time the other day and its very simple to follow.

It also includes the link to a plugin for removing the white from the void.bmp

I've read that guide already but I don't get it, and the programm is only to remove the white from the void.bmp , but I want also to paint the aircraft like I can do in paint and placing images at the plane you know? Maybe it's confusing for me because I'm Dutch but isn't there a easier way?

Anyway thanks for the help Rovens http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

If you are Dutch then you need to hook up with Java.... Hit the Simmer's Paintshoip link that is in the Sturmovik Essen tials link in my sig.

Nah... I don't understand it anymore, there are a lot of programm's. At the paintshop forum of IL-2 they said to me I need to download Gimp, but there are a lot of versions and FTP's but when I want to download someone, there are more dan 100 links and I don't know wich to download, and at Simmmer's paintshop I can only find tutrials for Gimp. I'm now using Paint.net but when I save the file as a .bmp IL-2 can't open it, too bad!!! When I save it with paint with another .bmp the colors are going be mad, and the babe nose-arts are still having a white background and with lasso select in paint.net it's very hard to remove the white from the body's.

I don't think I'm gonna make this. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

You MUST save the finished skin in 256 colours, bmp format if you want IL2/PF to be able to see the skin. I dont think that Paint can save a file like that. When you name a skin file there are some characters from 'local' alphabets you can't use. You need some other software: GIMP, Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Photoshop etc.
I use Paint Shop Pro 9, but GIMP is free, so I suggest that you try to use that for starters. If you want to edit photos and/or make graphics I can recommend Paint Shop Pro as it is good software, and cheap. You can download a trial version of the latest Paint Shop Pro X. Using Paint Shop Pro it's easy to remove all white on a void skin file.

After you've learned to remove the white areas of your selected image, then look in your help section of your paint program be it Photoshop or other and read the section about working with "LAYERS"
I think that should help you understand what it
is you are trying to accomplish and the "help"
section in your paint program is free and doesnot need to be downloaded

Try downloading GIMP from this website:

Okay I've GIMP now! On a other forum of ubi I asked how to figure out to remove the white background from the nose-art and saving the file so IL-2 can read it ;-)
