My Ati Radeon 9800Pro is finito/kaputt/basta/busted http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif figures, because the date I bought it was 07/2003 and now its 11/2004, so no more warantee. Kinda sucks for a videocard I payed 476 euros for. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

for those who are interesed: I get visual artifacts/anomalies in 2D mode (Windows desktop, BIOS bootscreen/setupscreen) and 3D mode (textures get replaced all the time (dynamicly) by corrupt ones).

Tuesday is the next day the shoppe opens, maybe the owners are exceptionally cool and grant me a replacement one nonetheless. we shall see! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

any words of comfort are appreciated http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If I don't get a replacement and somebody is intereseted in a busted 9800Pro (for god who knows what reason, on other hand it still works, but you'll get a frontal lobotomy watching the artifacts for longer than 5minutes ;p ), pay me the shipping-costs and I'll ship it too you!

If you still have the receipt, get shipping # from ATI website. I bet they send you a new one if you ship it back.

Try under clocking it with riva tuner or ATI Tool. Maybe it will work for a bit longer.

ah yes, thanks very much for pointing me in that direction, although I made an omission in my initial post. It's a ATI radeon, but only in chipset, the card-manufacturer is actually someone else, Club 3D (a seemingly dutch manufacturer).

On my invoice it says the warranty time is one year, but on www.club-3d.nl (http://www.club-3d.nl) it says two years, so I guess I'm still in luck.

Many thanks for the kind words ofzo http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
and thanks chris for poiting out my sillyness http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have my first 9800 Pro fail, the fan stopped working on it. I got a replacement and it has worked fine ever since. Hopefully that will happen for you.

yeah, check the fan. also make sure the heat sink is clean. it would not be unusual for a broken or clogged fan to cause your problems.
