Mudmovers have kindly posted my Johnny Red Campaign based on the comic book character from the British comic "Battle" of the 1970s and 1980s.

The setting is historical, Leningrad 1941, but the story is wholly fiction and features a disgraced British fighter pilot fighting with the Russians.

You can get it here:

http://www.mudmovers.com/Sims/FB/fb_campaigns.htm

Its my first campaign but has been extensively tested.

Let me know what you think.

I was to take responsability for the newcomer Erich Hartmann. I looked at him and thought: Oh my God, what are they sending us now? What a baby!

Installation instructions not in the readme:

Unzip Johnny_Red Folder to Program Files/Ubi Soft/Il-2 Sturmovik/Missions/Campaign/RU

Sure most of you knew anyway but...

Also advise you play as a Polkovnik and select No Instant Success if you want the story to make sense.

Now his sidekick... He was a German defector, terrified of being captured. was it Ratko?

Didn't they do a story with him flying this B-25 Mitchell bomber, with all the guns in the nose. Used to tear up the Luftwaffe planes on the Eastern front really well. Never did get to read how it ended.

Yea, I think it was Yakob.

The B-25 missions as I can recall from my hazy memory were either a mission to bomb a battleship in some fjord after it had lured the falcons into a flak trap, he went with some flying officer of the RAF that called him a coward because he knew Johnnys history. They skip-bombed the ship and it finally sank, on the way back to the airfield they were attacked by me109s and FO Lamb was killed...

Another mission with the b25 was to go into stalingrad? to find Yakob who had been shot down flying in supplies in a TB-3, they land the b25 in a graveyard, and finally find yakob..

Ahh those were the days....

What a trip down memory lane you lot have just sent me on!

What about a 'Lofty's One-Man Luftwaffe' campaign? Could be a bit of a challenge working out how to get kills from your own geschwader though.....

Crikey - we're showing our ages here, aren't we?

Yea I remember that one, unfortunately for some reason I only saw the first one or two on "Lofty". But it seemed like a good one.

And yes we are showing our age. Dan Dare and Doomlord doesn't mean much to the latest generation.
