I am glad to announce the release of my new film, "Red Stars Over Berlin." Many thanks to the VWC for hosting the film for me:

http://www.blacksheepwebdesign.net/vwc/media/Red%20Stars%20Over%20Berlin.avi

The file size is 59.7 MB and is 8 min., 45 sec. in length and is encoded with the Xvid codec.

Get the Xvid codec here:
http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/

I have used Vegas 4.0 as the video editor, along with both fraps 1.9 and 2.0 (2.0 to capture the various sound files). FB sounds were saved as wav files in Vegas, exported to Audacity for sound editing (amplify, fade in/out), then went back to Vegas. All sounds are from FB.

More details to follow...for now, enjoy the movie....

Any comments or suggestions will be welcomed.

S! ShadowSix

The video was very smooth thru-out the video. Glad to see you use Fraps 2.0 to captured the sweet sounds of aircraft engines.

Vegas 4.0...had not seen anyone use that program.

On Fraps 2.0, 0r 1.9...what frame rate did you have it set at? 30, 25, or 15 fps?

What Res. setting were you using during captured?

Again Outstanding job and excellent video

Speechless. I've seen most of the films done but I must say, this one is perhaps the best of the lot. Awesome work. The patriotic music was totally insync with the action and drama of the film. You difinetly captured the vintage look of those films in the 40s that used to show the 8th AAF and their exploits. That one guncam footage you threw in was so freakin' realistic I had to review a few times (the brewster attacking the Pe2). I don't want to give the rest of the film away but it's a masterpiece. Great job to you and the guys that made it. The formation flying was excellent. stubby

S! Shadowsix, great movie. Was wandering what music you used for the soundtrack. Seems I've heard some of that before but cant place it. That really was a great film.

I may not be good at what I do, but I sure as h*** try. You may be good at what you do, but there's ALWAYS someone better.

OK, so only the first piece was from 1492. Where were the rest from?

Also, I thought that thanking the pilots and others who helped was very classy.

You might want to mention if any animals were harmed during the filming, though, and an additional dedication to the hundreds of pilots who lay down their virtual lives every day, and in some cases several times a day, for their virtual homelands. I'd personally find that to be virtually interesting.

Seriously, though, this was a great work. It has the right "feel" to it, and that's something that's hard to do. Well done.

An outstanding movie, certainly competing to be the best thus far!!

I have showcased it at my Website(see SigBlock below)... From the Homepage of the Site, follow the flashing arrow link to view and/or download "Red Stars Over Berlin"..

I've also showcased "Into the Maelstrom" by BPond, another brand new and top-notch movie! EDIT: My error...Maelstrom will not be a working download/viewing link until tomorrow!!

ShadowSix, I have the movie trailer, and it works fine. What changes have you adopted producing the whole version?

A.

XyZspineZyX
11-03-2003, 09:13 PM
As I recall, the trailer may have been in DivX format....the movie IS in XVid format.

I had Major problems with XVid....after many installs, reinstalls,of XVid and DivX, I finally found guidance on installation in certain order, etc, and both DivX and XVid now work for me, for Decoding and viewing; But, i can no longer get my DivX to encode!! ...

I cant find the guidance now. It was somewwhere on these forums..here or over at the VWC forums:
http://www.blacksheepwebdesign.net/VirtualWarCinema/

good luck

Oh, I finally watched it!

One word: exceptional.
It didn't come short on expectations.

I really love these movies. and some of them are real pieces of art, and expertise. This one, especially.
It's very polished, it looks like it has been in a post-production Hollywood studio. In a good way... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Thanks for sharing, and please do keep on.

I am speechless.

The effects are, plain and simply,........perfect, for the lack of a more appropriate adjective.

The soundtrack, so insinc with the action.....beautifull.
Brought tears to my eyes.

ShadowSix, to you, and all who helped you in the production of this movie, i salute you.

All of your kind words made this production worth the while--thanks.

I thought it would be best to post the details of the production of this movie in a short tutorial form for everyone to view. This tutorial goes over the video software I used, the capture techniques, and the list of soundtracks I used in the film.

I have the tutorial posted over at the Virtual War Cinema in the Movie Making Tutorials section. Here is the link for the thread at the VWC:

http://www.blacksheepwebdesign.net/VirtualWarCinema/viewtopic.php?t=142

For all you aspiring virtual filmmakers out there, sign up at the Virtual War Cinema, exchange your ideas and works, and most of all, have fun....We'll be glad to have you on board!!

Aeronautico--I'm glad you got the Xvid problem sorted out. I really didn't want to use Xvid at first, but it rendered best in quality for the opening shot.

Simply outstanding!

Excellent music... and well matched to the action. The ditch sequence was greatly enhanced by the rising tension created by the music.

I'm struck by the the depth of this Sim that it can be the basis of so many different hobbies; skinning, mission building, movie making, online co-ops, online dogfighting, offline campaigns... all from one source. We all tend to bellyache about the things we don't like about IL-2 and FB, but the fact is that it is still keeping us all busy and creative after all this time.
