Which front did the US lose most fighters? Pacific or Europe?

Which German pilot had the highest tally against the US?

I know Me262 pilots became aces during the war, but did anyone shot down 5 jets during WWII?

I don't know the answers, I was just wondering!

I don't have exact figures, but the US probably lost more fighters vs the germans. Definately if your counting bombers it was the ETO.

Which German pilot had the highest tally against the
- US?

Against western flown aircraft, that honor goes to Hans-Joachim Marseille with 158 kills.

Top jet ace in 262 was Heinz Bar with 16 kills. The Luftwaffe had 23 jet aces(5+ kills) in ww2.

As for 262 kills...The USAAF received credit for a total of 165 Luftwaffe jet kills. This total includes 6 Me-163 Komet
and 14 Ar-234 jets.

On 10-07-44 Lt Urban Drew shot down 2 Me-262 jets.

On 2-25-45 Capt Don *******s shot down 2 Me-262 jets.

I am not sure that anyone received credit for shooting down more than two.

Luftwaffe top jet ace wasn't B¤r.

Oberstleutnant Kurt Welter of 10/NJG11 had 23 kills on his board while flying Me262. Followed by Heinz B¤r with 16, Franz Schall with 14, Hermann Buchner, G-P.Eder, Erich Rudorffer each with 12 kills

Here is one source that I found for that material:

Hmmm funny. I got my info from Horrido! Which was published back in the 70s. Makes no mention of Welter being the #1 jet ace. Only mentions he made 60 kills 30 bombers. All at night. Spick's book Luftwaffe fighter aces says he got a few kills with the 262

It would seem that there is some controversy about some of Welter's claims. From the book "The Other Battle" which is about the night fighter war in WWII:

"Welter's Kommando was later renamed 10/NJG 11. Wlter himself shot down a total of 3 Mosquitos with the few aircraft allocated to the unit."

The author also writes this:

"Welter was destined to end the war with the reputation of being the most successful "Mosquito-Jager" with at least 6 of the wooden wonders to his credit out of a total of 61 victories. Some sources claim that he destroyed up to 25 Mosquitos, but estimates such as thisseem wild in the extreme. Part of the problem lies in the fact that Wleter was a very controversial figure, with a name in some quarters for making questionable claims. It was not easy to check out claims made by Wild Sau pilots in single seater aircraft....the single seat fighters scored the majority of the victories over the target itself, so that it was difficult to differentiate between bombers destroyed by flak and those shot down by fighters."

Hans-Joachim Marseille had 158 victories at the time of his death on September 15, 1942 in North Africa. He shot down plenty of RAF P-40s, but I haven't seen any evidence that he shot down any American pilots.

To my knowledge, there were no American units in his area of operation.
