Frank,

We've checked the message boards for IL2 Hosting an aside from you, only 1 other person has reported this same problem. If you have contact info for these other people that are sharing this problem, then please ask them to email us from our support site and include their 'dxdiag' information along with their type of router. We will have a support rep post a similar request on the message boards for people having this problem. I would also like to point out that, nothing on UBI.com has changed since the last update (long before the 1.1b patch was released) and the only thing to change was the patch. Because of this, I seriously doubt that the fault lies with UBI.com. Thank you for contacting us regarding this.

IL2 FB
Since the 1.1b patch, we can't host games over UBI unless we don't use the Router but we used to be able to host just fine.

Using D-Link Router with Comcast Cable Modem (using latest router drivers)

I have no problems at all hosting a game on HyperLobby. Before I installed the 1.1b patch, I had problems with my server showing on the list of servers sometimes even though people would be connected and playing on it.

I have been contacted from over 80 other IL2:FB players by email that have the same problem.

if you hook the PC that you want to host on directly into the modem then it works. thats what i do anyhow. i bet it has to do with router firewalls, err ive heard something about something else cant think of it at the moment.

That's almost certainly because your firewall software
on your PC (if any) has different ports open to the defaults
on the router.

The funny thing is I have cable modem, with only one computer and I can no longer host on UBI either./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif I've uninstalled\re-installed the game, the game service software and edited registry to no avail.

Something has definitely changed since the patches came out. I don't feel it's the game, but the game service updates they made to handle the updated FB. Either they wrote over a file that the game service uses or did something in the registry, but the bottom line is that it effects too many people to be an isolated incident.

works for me .. i am behind a linux router running the latest version of shorewall.. i have port forwarded ports 21000 and 26000 to my windows machine (tho i believe only 21000 is necessary) ..

i was getting a bizzare error from UBI when i first installed the beta patch .. but there was a quick registry fix where you had to change a key from D_FIGHT to DOGFIGHT that fixed that.. have you dont this? (no idea where it's documented) ..

... what error message are you getting? saying 'it doesn't work' doesn't really help.. HOW does it not work. what does it say/not do?

This is the part I'm not sure of. Up until the day the V1.1b patch came out, we were flying and hosting at UBI with Version 1.0, with no problems. As soon as the patch was released, UBI mad a change to the game service, saying that you could only fly V1.1b there.

Since that point, I have been unable to host there. Besides the "DFIGHT" issue, which only effects joining games, this hosting issue has effected many people. TX-OC3, GreaterGreen, Bozo and many others.

From what I've been hearing, it seems to be a localized issue, depending on where you are in the world. Is it possible some IP address ranges have been blocked from hosting on UBI somehow accidentally? I'm just throwing some things out there to bat around.

If we could get all the people to post in this thread, who can't host on UBI, a simple "Can't host on UBI" line or something, Thunak may see that this is a broader issue than his early reports have indicated.

Yes, good point. I can host successfully as well, with people trying to join, just timing out. I don't have a router and I even shut down my firewall to no avail.

I am getting ready to rebuild my HDD in the next day or two. So, maybe a fresh install, patch and game service install from the UBI site will fix the problem.

I'll make backups of my registry, all related IL2-FB files and anything else you might have a suggestion for, to see what may be different from a fresh install versus upgrades/patches to existing programs/files. Maybe I'll spot a difference in file sizes or .ini files or something....anything.

In the meantime, keep getting the people who can't host to post here in this thread, so we can bring this issue to full light and get it resolved.

I had the same problem and got it fixed.

Solutions (on a Telewell adsl modem/firewall/router combo):

1. Open port 21000 (if you haven't changed that) for in and out bound TCP and UDP traffic. (firewall)

2. Set up virtual server in router (redirect the traffic) to your own PC's ip. Allow ALL traffic (nor TCP or UDP alone were enough).

And now it works. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

jippo's suggestion should work

like i said i did just that and it works for me (i will test tonite as i have not tried w/ 1.11 patch) .. but remember you have to forward TCP AND UDP BIDIRECTIONALLY

un-blocking the port is not good enough .. you have to FORWARD it (DNAT)

have tried forwarding all ports, just 21000, and dmz. nothing works people still can't join my game. Ubi support says its an issue with FB and not Ubi software. If this is the case why does direct ip connection and hyperlobby both work. I don't get it. Just about ready to give up. This is the only game I play and it seems we are getting little to no help from ubi. I'm very dissapointed. Is there a telephone number for tech support? I looked but could not find one.

LOL.

It is not fixed.

Anyway all the servers moved to HyperLobby, the whole of our squad and at least 50% of all the people who where more on ubi than hyperlobby. (TX, Greatergreen etc)

None of us could host anymore after the patch except with workarounds like disabling internal ips and stuff. I had a thread about it explaining exactly why it was not working on UBI game service but working anywhere else.

I was told in PM that ubi was working on it and now that i see this message.. Well no comments.

It's not only with routers, it's with having multiple IPs as well. (Since 1.1b/ubi upgrade)

Another note..

This is not related to incorrect router forwarding (the problem since 1.1b).

Just to the ip being sent by the host to the clients trying to join.

Everything's fine in setup

Ubi correctly configured:

http://www.il2skins.com/images/screenshots/ubiproblem.gif

Il setup correct:

http://www.il2skins.com/images/screenshots/ubiproblem3.gif

IP being sent to clients:

http://www.il2skins.com/images/screenshots/ubiproblem2.gif

I don't use a routeur. Disabling the second networkd card which use an internal IP will correct my problem if i want to host on UBI although this is not viable solution. (Cut off my lan). I know at least 20 peoples who reported this to me and have seen people trying to get help about that in the ubi chat almost everynight while watching at all the gone server when patch 1.1b arrived.

Like lot of people said, HyperLobby is nice and it's my solution and solution of a lot of people. Was annoy me the most is that it has been overlooked and nobody in charge of this have seen to bother about it.

I remember when i began playing the game for the first time (Original Il2) i never knew about HyperLobby. I began to play online at ubi, then began to read forums and get interest in the game. I met some nice fellas on the TX-Oc3 at that time (original il2). I learned to bomb and enjoy that game. I even tried to get friend to buy and play this game. Only after that i came aware of the existance of HyperLobby.

That why, it should be fixed for new people that think this game is some piece of abandonware while logging in to UBI and seing less than 40 peoples with this number of servers avail:

Ok, as I understood it you can't host with a router,
but can with a modem.

You have no firewall software running on your PC, and
can host with the PC.

You almost certainly, by default, have firewall software
running on your router.

You have problems hosting with the rotuer, and not the
PC when directly attached.

It seriously suggests a firewalling issue.

Have you got a ports open in the firewall/NAT config
on the router?

What router are you using? Is it NAT based, iptables, based?
Does it require that a specific host IP address (local side)
is set in the config to direct packets on the opened port
to the designated PC. Have you changed the IP addresses
for the PCs in some way?

Maybe the ports used at ubi.com may have changed since
August for some elements of the game configuration? Or
there may have been some other config change at ubi's
end.

I'd check your router's firewall config first. It took
me about 3 weeks to get a reliable set up that allows me
to play Aces High, for example (FB was rather easy on HL
at least - never use ubi.com).

NAT with port forwarding isn't a 'true' firewall, and
some routers seem to have pretty dubious firmware in this
area, which probably doesn't help matters!

- AaronGT, you may have missed my above posting,
- especially
-
- * hosting via router at ubi.com WAS POSSIBLE before
- August, since then it is no longer possible, even
- with the original 1.0 version
-
-
- * the hosting problem has NOTHING to do with a
- specific CPU configuration or Windows Version.
-
-
- In addition there is no firewall software running on
- my PCs.

@ AaronGT

If a user's configuration has been working fine since months (could host 1.0 games from behind a router) and then without changing the configuration it does no longer work with ubi.com at the same day 1.1b was introduced but STILL works fine with Hyperlobby, it cant be the user's configuration, especially since the router has been setup to forward ANY TCP/UDP connection requests from the internet to a specified IP address (FB Host CPU) without restricting ports (= Default Forwarding, also known as DMZ). So even if ports have changed at ubi.com, this would have no effect.

ALSO THERE IS NO FIREWALL OR FILTER ACTIVE NEITHER WITHIN THE ROUTER NOR THE HOST CPU.

However, looks like a solution is on the way:

Thanks. I was actually trying to help. Many the time
someone thinks they haven't changed anything, when they
have, so I was just suggesting to check again with
a fine tooth comb. I did actually point out that things
at Ubi.com changing was also a possibility...

Maybe I shouldn't try to help.

I have also brought the host address issue to their attention, via the games.cfg file in the ubi soft folder.

Not had a response yet, the support site said 72 hours..........
