A pitty for you, I don't think the make this game for mac computers.

Altough, i'm not that good of a tech-person.

Are there any supported gamesticks on Mac these days?

Mac is pretty exclusively limited to publishing and audio/visual stuff these days. I know there are games but Macs are definately less accessible in price range than the average PC is (and I have plenty of price points to back that up if anyone wants to call that into question).

Mac's are very professionally oriented and definately not as mainstream.

A shame really. A long time windows user; I appreciate the simplicity and intuitiveness of the MAC. windows could learn much from MAC, oh, wait, M$ did rip off the GUI.

No doubt. The purchase of DOS has to be the second worst rip-off in history; behind the purchase of Manhattan Island and ahead of the Louisiana purchase.

I was a Mac user for 8 years or so and I hated PC's then I finally had to get one for my degree at Uni and haven't gone back to a Mac since. Both have their plus points but you just can't play much with a Mac and since XP came out I haven't had much to complain about Windows. XP is very stable for me.

you should get a pc, even a mac g5 has alot of problems with memory and its os crashing when doing large 150 page quark layouts, video and graphics which are specifically for that. also if you look at games you will notice a huge difference in speed on the pc, but makes no sense they say the g5 suppost to be faster then anything out at its time.

Maybe but, the problem with XP is that alot of your old and beloved games won't play anymore /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Given how little of the PC world involves Macs, I doubt 1C:Maddox will do anything to capture such a small market share.

In OS 9 maybe. Quark is only becoming available for OS X now, and you can't even run OS 9 on a G5, so I assume this information is made up.

I own a G4 700, and a 2.2 Ghz P4 laptop (to play Il-2 on, and for testing cross platform software that I write). In terms of speed for games, the P4 is faster, but for everyday work I'd rather use the mac. Before a OS X, I wouldn't have touched the thing, but now it's the best development platform I've ever used. It comes with full developer tools for FREE, it has a full 4.4BSD subsystem, so I can use all my Unix tools on it, and AppKit is the most elegant programming API I've ever used.

The G5, which is the IBM 970, is a processor that's previously been available in IBM server products. It's 64 bit, it's very fast. I can't comment on game performance for apple's new machine, cause I don't have one. They do provide good radeon or geforce FX video cards, and Apple's OpenGL is a solid implementation.

With regard to joystick support, I can just plug in my Thrustmaster USB and it works. No drivers, no problems.

I went from PC to MAC years ago and love it. OS X is a dream! I did, however, get a 3 ghz P4 with 1 Meg of RAM to play games like IL2.

Your comment about there being no MAC supported WWII Flight Sims in not correct. One of the very best out there (besides IL2) is Warbirds III, and it is cross platform: both WIN and MAC.

Yeah, there is a PC software emulation for MACs, but IMO the frame rate would be so slow that it would be useless for high end games such as any of the online flight sims.

If you only have MAC, try Warbirds site I listed above. It's a great sim, and IMO has the 2d best graphics out there. FMs are very good. Many Flight Sim enthusiast over there, with focus on accuracy.

Microsoft actually "stole" the GUI (and the mouse) from XEROX. Their owner let Gates get any info from his XEROX tech people for a very small price. He though Microsoft was stupid to pay him for the idea of something called a "mouse".

Its not like it was any good, dos was orginally qdos - quick and dirty operating system, it wasnt dos that made microsoft it was the deal with ibm that gave them them the market share, ibm realised too late that they had made a boo boo.

HI:

Those 23" wide screen TFT monitor DO WORK with PCs...you just need the adapted they sell (apple) to make them compatible with DVI (about $100). I know for sure, since I am using one...with a PC and a Ti-4200 (no need for any tweaks).

If you have the cash...go for it. They are gorgeous, work like heaven and have no issues with PCs.

Back in my days of being a electronic technician, there was a reason we called them Mac in trash. Your starting to find out it seems. Sorry you got one of those.

You do know that Apple made an almost exact copy of Xerox's GUI system that they had in development and then beat them to the market.

Neither Apple nor Microsoft are the "play nicely, I'm innocent" kind of company.
