Gents,
PF not released here yet, so can any kind soul tell me whether the weapons load out for the Beau includes the option of 4x .5 mgs and 4x 20mm as well as the earlier fit of 6x .303 and 4x 20mm?
Just curious.
Bussard.

Hi Bussard

The Beaufighter in game has 4 x .50cal and 4 x 20mm cannons.

Other possible loadouts include:
8x 5"HVAR
2x 250lb bombs
2x 500lb
1x Mk 13 Torp.

Its a great bird to fly and packs a real punch!

Cheers

I can't wait to fly the Mk21 when PF comes out.

I hope that there is a squadron that flies them....

Hi,

This bird is a blast to fly - easily my favourite plane of PF so far.

Can anyone say if the patch will address the issue of non-accessable rear gunner/lack of action on his behalf?

Cheers,
Norris

Well the bubbleboy isnt really a reargunner, but an observer/radiooperator as i understand it. Still, because of the very limited rearview from cockpit id like the option to jump to the bubbleboy seat to check 6.

As much as I would love to see it, I doubt that it would be worthwhile modeling the station given that it doesn't have a gun.

Anyway, has anyone heard of a beaufighter squadron on the net?

As an Aussie I'm so glad they decided to model the Mk 21, and I can't wait to take her for a spin once my copy of PF arrives http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

That and the Mk VIII Spitfire, which I know just the skin I'd like for it, ever since I bought that book Flying Colours I've thought it looked cool http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But back on topic, I've been hearing a lot of good things about the Beaufighter, I just hope she lives up to what i've heard http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Haha that thing doesnt look too good for protecting much of anything, but i suppose something's better than nothing.

Halfwit and I built and painted the external model and we included a gun. Higher powers decided it didn't need one and history says one was not always carried. The bulkhead behind the cockpit is wrong as far as I can tell, even on the Mk. 21. You're not missing much my not having a rear station, but my team didn't build the internals Another gentlemen did and it came out great. I'm not sure why exactly it turned out he way it did. You'd have to ask Oleg about that.

Funny place to put an observer but I've learned something new today http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I was just reading Beaufort, Beaufighter, Mosquito by Stewart Wilson. It appears that the gun in the bulb was a field modification. Also some Beaus had their wing guns removed and replaced with fuel tanks to increase their range.

The beaufighters were really fast at low level so the tactic when bounced was to dive to dot feet and make a run for it.
