I was just wondering if its possible to change the clouds in QMB. I've tried changing the weather conditions and the map, but whatever I do, I still end up with puny little white fluffballs, if i set the weather to clear, the fluffballs are hanging in the middle of a blue sky. If I set it to poor, the fluffballs are still there, except this time its foggy. How do people get those amazing cloud banks like the one shown in the picture posted by Feathered_IV on page 8 of the high rez screenshots, or Skarden in the same place in the post above?
Thanks!

Try using Blind/Rain/Thunderstorm settings. Depending on the map and the time of day they can create good effects (at the expense of framerates sometimes). I find early morning tends to have nicer clouds. Also check to see your clouds are set to Detailed in the graphics options.
But they're still gonna be pretty fluffy and blobby.

And make sure you have this line under the [game] section in your config.ini
TypeClouds=1

Clouds are very bad for searching a fight if you fly without arrows... once someone disappears in clouds it is near impossible to find his airplane.

I also have problems to believe that the flew at thunderstorm conditions.

Well, I tried what you suggest,ed Flatspinman, but all I get is small fluffy clouds and a greyish haze. My graphic options are all set to the maximum (in game, not in config), including clouds.

I can't find that line, Deedsundone, I tried using the "find" feature, but it only brought up one line with 'type' and that was nothing to do with clouds...

Dkoor, I know its hard to find people in clouds, but they just look so nice http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif and yeah, those pics weren't taken in thunder/blind conditions. I'll send Feathered a pm and ask, lol.

You have to manually put that line in your conf.ini, it's not there by default...

And to get some of those clouds in the high rez thread you have to use a little photoshop magic if I'm not mistaken... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Having read several memories...they flew in some really nasty stuff. Thunderstorms specifically I'm not sure about...but towering cloudbanks, sleet, snow, heavy fog, and really nasty winds. Not advisable but as I understand it the weather over the channel and north sea can change rapidly.

What version of the game do you have? The fluffy clouds are enabled by default (despite whats been said here so far) in version...I think its 4.01 if memory serves. Prior to that these clouds were not available at all. If you have a lower end system then they will hit your FPS a bit as well. Because the line isn't in your config.ini I suspect you're running and older version.

I have 4.08m, and yes, I realise my fps will probably drop, but I've played it in thunder conditions before and it wasnt bad, plus, I really just want the clouds for some nice flying around, not for missions or anything, haha.

I'll try putting the line in manually, thanks for that.

If you are talking about this screenshot:

Then you need more then the official game.

I can not comment on the above image, I can only say that it was just such a great screenshot I couldn't keep it to myself. I think I might stick it on my wall. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif

It's kind of a catch22...the best and most extensive clouds are achieved with Weather=Poor or Blind, but then it will be quite hazy below cloudbase. However, if you fly up above the clouds, the air will be clear and you can look down on a blanket of fluffy white clouds. Set the cloud height as low as it will go, then fly above them.
