The AI got the best of me this time. Needless to say, it was a head-on pass. I flew back to base but I didn't bother to land before quitting the mission. Does the P80 nose often fall off when hit?

Yes was fell off one time when I get MK108 treatment. Miraculously, nothing else was damaged on the plane, and I have continue to fly like nothing happened. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Why did the USAAF paint the interior of the nose flourescent yellow?, Oh ,I see to let other pilots know "my nose has fallen off".
Ever been in a Me163 when the entire tail falls off?, it's just a cockpit with a tube hanging out the end.

It is a custom-made skin, therefore the color, I think.

I've got a photo of an F-80C in Robert Jackson's "Air War Korea 1950-53" that returned from a mission with similar damage. A part of the bow is missing (smaller than the in-game damage, though), and the Browning MG barrels aim into nowhere, cover panels ripped off. Flak damage of some sort.

Yes. I think the yellow is part of the custom skin. I haven't seen the photograph you mention. Apparently Oleg has seen it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

That yellow happened because the guy flying the P-80 was shooting his guns when the nose got lopped off. Try shooting the guns in the Seafire and folding them, you'll get the same effect.

I bet you that flew a lot better with no nose cone than the 190 does with a pinhole in the wing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Cool! I modeled that in (radio gear) and never thought I would get to see it! All this time since I modeled the P-80 and not once has it happened that I know of. Must be a hard hit or something. Did the MG's still work?

No. The MGs fell off with the rest of the nose.

Actually, the color may not be that far off. There was a nearly flourescent yellow shade of zinc chromate used by the USAAF quite similar to the one in the screenshot.

Usually, that shade would be used in interior paneling, where it could not sicken the pilot, crew, or innocent passers by, but it was used on the inside main landing gear doors of the P-47, where it was occasionally glimpsed as the wheels came up or down...

the yellow colour is the Muzzel Flash , which for some reason shows sometimes when this happens

both times ive done this i havent had the extreme yellow colour showing

apparently there is something included into the Spitfires model that isnt included with the game that should show under certian damadge
