I have not drawn anything in quite a while (but I used to represent my entire school at "academic meets" competing against other schools for art) and as part of my physical therapy regimen at the VA hospital, the doctors want to see some improvement on the dexterity of my hands and fingers. What better way to do this than to start drawing again, they say. So as part of my physical therapy I drew this picture. If it is appreciated I will certainly do more in the near future. I have plenty of time. Everyone, please tell me what you think.
Oh, and one more thing. I have been trying to think of a good title for this picture. Any ideas?

Whacking, damn good Choctaw. Sorry you are having to do it as physical therapy, and regrets you were hurt. This is excellent. I hope you fully regain your "hand." I've been rather ill recently and haven't been able to paint, but I have been using a neat, little computer program called ArtRage 2 made in Berkeley CA (only $20). I can't believe I am not using real pencil, airbrush, chalks, etc, but I've found it a heck of a kick:

Keep up the great work, Ace.

How about: "Close Escort"?

You've done a really good job -the perspective looks right to me (though I'm no artist). Keep doing them, mate. I hope the recovery of your dexterity goes well.

Choctaw-I showed Mrs. Esel your drawing, and she was blown away. She's taking the keyboard over now:
"This is Mrs. Esel,my first impression was WOW,pencil is so much harder than charchoal or pastels for detail. My first impression was-"Through the Clouds with Freinds" or "Friends from the Clouds", I don't know planes but I knew the Spit. You should do commission pieces,if so,can I be first in line? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Congrats on some great work. Here's wishing all the best, and thanks for your concern.
I can't wait to see more pics."

Choctaw,

I'm pretty fair with pen and pencil myself. If this is what what you are capable of in the midst of therapy, I really look forward to seeing what you can do when you are back to 100 pct! And it's not simply a question of technical ability. Your composition is terrific as well.

Have you ever thought of taking a shot at doing this professionally?

Wow! Awesome drawing there fella! I used to dabble in this a long time ago myself. But my stuff was more "Technical" such as line drawing fantasy WWII airplanes Such as a Griffon powered P-38 with sqared off wingtips, rudders and stabs as well. Oh yeah, it also had a bubble canopy too that slid backward. Fun stuff! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

As for a name for your drawing? Humm...one thing that pops out for me is.... "Brotherly Escort"
I dunno why, just does. Hope that helps somewhat! Good luck! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Nice stuff sir. S!

I used to paint , but I never was very good at drawing. It appears you have trouble coming up with the titles too. I always found that one of the toughest parts of doing art work. Titles and knowing when to put down your brush or pencil.

Good job, nice work. Glad to see that your thearapy is working out for you. I to am in therapy for my good arm, I know how it feels. I always wished I could draw like you but I never had the talent but I did takeup woodworking and now build grandfather clocks and a few beds. Here is a picture of my arm about 7 weeks ago, very graphic.

Anyway...Nice work Choctaw111. You have a nice eye for depicting majesty and grace. I know their just airplanes, but I feel a majestic feeling when I look at it. If thats what you can do now (out of practice) I would love to see your artwork in a month.

If your taking requests I would love to see a battle depiction... maybe spits and me109's over a French farm, at 500m.

Coctaw - it boggles my mind to think you can draw like that and not have optimal dexterity!

I like the style and shading - do you do other things other than aircraft? I'd love to see your style in the form of a portrait or two. I bet it would look good.

Is it all just pencil? Have you tried charcoal or pastels?

Yes. I did this drawing using just a #2 pencil...only sharpened once http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Just like this one. I used my fingers to blend some of the pencil lines together and smooth them out.

Nice stuff Choctaw, if your looking for some criticism the Spitfire to the lefts rear upper fuselage needs to be straighter. Due to the perspective it looks like it has grown a hump kind of like that on the Hawker Hurricane and Its rudder is proportionately too small compared to the rest of the plane.

These are just small criticisms, overall its an ace drawing.
