Ok, Call me silly, But what the he11 is the big deal with that screenshot? Granted its a nice screenshot of a 190 hitting a ship. But the title of the thread is about a new map.

I mean geeze, I can take the same pic from any winter map in the game. Whats so special about it?

If we are going to get a tease about a new map, Then give us a partial view if the actual map. Like one of the cities, or a large bay.

Hi all,

People whine when there's nothing, people whine when there's something ...

Ice - good point, that's why I asked for a mirror and Dart has mirrored the shot and now there's no BW limit.

Heywood - When it's ready. I thought that was 10 days ago but the maps were made in FB and now in PF the AI planes are behaving differently at the airbases. After a lot of work we think we've sorted the problems now, though a few things don't work entirely as originally envisaged. Now Moscow "just" need to recompile them but it can take a while to get a free slot in the programmer's timetable. When we get it and have checked it we will release it. I didn't make it so that it could stagnate on my harddrive.

Coastie - I just posted it because I liked it. There doesn't have to be a big deal does there? Although you might like to note that there is water in a winter map, something you haven't seen before. And a ship offshore in an Eastern Front DGen mission. Not common either. So now, you couldn't take that pic on any current winter map - it would be an icefield wouldn't it?

And I posted a partial view of the map on SimHQ a couple of days ago.

And the thread title at SimHQ is "Little Murmansk screenshot". Hardly misleading.

Sadly no, for technical reasons about the water/ice.

Anyway, the 2 major campaigns took place in Autumn 1941 and Autumn 1944.

Ian, although I guess that's Oleg & Starshoy matter, do you know of any plans to include the new theater to existing or new dynamic campaigns?

It would be a pity to have it only thru the FMB missions.

Yes there certainly are fll plans for this - we are working very hard at it at the moment.

ianboys... sorry if my question seemed impolite to you, was only a question....seems lately on this board especially the tenor of some posters causes unnecessary hostility between the rest of us. I am a staunch supporter of 1c and il2 franchise so my question of when was not accusatory or inflammatory, but I understand your defensiveness.
The map looks good to me...and the need for that particular region to help us FMB guys do convoy support missions etc. is understood and greatly anticipated be sure.

I think its a really nice picture. And where can you find a open water winter map currently in the game? Nowhere...attacking ships over winter terrain is new...it doesn't really add anything except the aethetic appeal but the new map has some other uses http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
