Did I mention that my wife is flying with EasyJet to London today? I hope they don't have to follow the jet routes in that ole 52, the walls are pretty thin.

Hey SmokeJaguar! Nice to see you on the f0's again. It's been a while...

You people are sooo lucky to be living in Britain (at least when it comes to planes...). All I get flying over is the odd Cessna or Piper and the occasional 737... I did spot an airborne P-51 the day before the airshow last year. That made me smile... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Too bad the next airshow's three years away, and might not even happen... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

SJ: PM me when you feel like wh00ping my B-hind for educational purposes. If that offer's still up that is...

incredible now a RAF chopper came one way really low about 2 minutes ago

and a chinook came the other way really low just now All in the space of ten minutes !! -WTF is going on?

edit - in an attempt to help visualize this i have included some piccys from the internet (dang if only i had my digital camera handy - but i don't no where my parents have put it /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif )

note - i have tried to find pictures with a 'derbyshire' type background to add authenticity !!

<center><img src=http://mysite.freeserve.com/Angel_one_five/tornado.jpg>
first a tornado came over

<center><img src=http://mysite.freeserve.com/Angel_one_five/helicopter1.jpg>

then a chopper like very much like this

<center><img src=http://mysite.freeserve.com/Angel_one_five/chinook.jpg>
then a chinook - all at really low level - i hope they know what theyre doing - that chinook was going in an opposite direction to the other two - could have been a right disaster !)

BTW sorry SJ dont mean to 'hijack' your thread - just seemed like the appropriate place to put this - and i really wanted to tell someone ! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif thank you

Ketalar, you want to try living in St. Andrews (i.e. right next to Leuchars RAF base). Believe me, all the Tornados and AWACS flying around are great at first, but the noise when you're trying to watch a bit of TV sometimes gets quite annoying /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I was also scared sh*tless a couple of times at the train station in Leuchars when Tornados blast over the platform at 150ft. Extremely loud /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Saying that though, one evening I had a stroll down to the harbour to watch the sunset and I ended up watching a Tornado doing circuits over Leuchars and flying right the way round St. A's and across the bay. That was nice /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Varro

P.S. Smoke, you're pretty close, do you ever make it across to Leuchars airshow?

Agreed...I used to live in Kemback in the little valley below Dairsie. We often used to walk up Strathkiness and watch the Tornados taking off.
Depending on the wind direction they used to take off right over the cottage....the air in your lungs used to vibrate!!

Yay! Up the East Neuk! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif It's nice to hear from someone so close to home. I drive through Dairsie all the time. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Do you miss it? The weather's been incredible up here so far this summer.

Yeah, I miss it a lot... it's a lovely part of the world..If you turn left on your way into Dairsie, go down the hill and turn left over the wee bridge, my cottage was the first on the left....nice spot!

Used to play rugby for Madras FP.
