S~!

I was going to buy an ATI 850 XT PE, but may now wait as this card - Fudo may be up to twice as fast. The 3dmark 2005 is known to be over 10000 points. That beats TWO Nvidia 6800 Ultras. My current card Ati 9700 pro is just not up to it since the new patch.

You could play the game FULL AA - AF -PERFECT -- FULL EVERYTHING and never drop below 100 fps. IMAGINE THE POWER Never see another jagged line again, no faded textures, all effects to full. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Yawn http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif.

It will be surpassed in a few months and in 12 months time it will merely be 'better than average'.

With the way that computing technology evolves, and the pricing schemes that are set up around this, it's never worth it to buy absolutley top of the line stuff when it comes to processors and GPUs.

When the best card is gives you an (arbitary figure here) of 10,000 one or two steps down the line give you 9500 and 9000. However the top of the line usually costs anywhere from 25-50% extra for 5-10% more performance

I am looking at building my own system for the first time. If I buy very good but not 'the best/fastest/coolest/newest' then I will save about 1/3 while still getting a system that gives 90% of the performance.

Besides, who needs 100 FPS, the human eye doesn't refresh fast enough to notice the difference above around 45. Even films only play at 24 fps and TV maxes out about 30fps.

But hey, if you want it go for it. Toss us your old card while your at it though, some of us still play on 64 MB GeForce 4s http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Hm...

Why is it called "Fudo"? Fudo is a nick for Fuad, a common Bosnian name... which sort of makes me proud as I am Bosnian as well! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Also, it's a name of Japanese god of fire and wisdom. Consdering that X800 was codenamed Loki, a norse god, then Fudo is named after some kind of god as well.

There... I just answered my own question. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

theres good max FPS , then theres fantastic average FPS

i know what makes for the best gameplay

& i know the drop in FPS in 4.0 is only a taste of things to come

Hmm... I'm pretty sure one will really have to pay the big cash for such a card - in my country hardware is pretty expensive because of taxes - so I never buy state-of-the-art - I'm constantly 12 months behind at least... But you can have great fun on a budget http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The good news with new product launches is that it drives the price of the current top line cards down to more reasonable levels.

I'll get an X850 which is more than capable of running this game at 30+fps with all the eye candy enabled.

Whats the rest of your sys HelSqnProtos?

I played online with a few m8's last night in a server that had 16 players in it with the new patch, fine and great looking with the new clouds on my 9800pro XP2800 sys.

As an experiment I went to w/clouds after,,, slideshow on the same settings,,, it had 40 players on it!

That the game ran fine with 10-16 players in it but cr*p when a lot more tells me that it aint my gfx card killing my performance but my cpu mobo combination.

I think if I stuck that monster on my m/c (cant, assuming it's pci) I doubt if I would get any real meaningfull performance boost.

Money, money, money!

Fudo keeps getting delayed. Nvidias new card is supposed to be out in 1 week. Nvidias new card doesnt look quite as fast on paper, but will only need one slot for cooling. ATIs will need too, and rumor is that they are having lots of trouble with heat. May be a replay of the whole 9700 and FX5800 days, but in reverse. Should be interesting.

I am not so sure he is wrong. You sure won't be playable with a 9800 pro.
