It was gr8 to have company in port but the FPS hit made me remove the mod. It was ok in port but in battle out to sea, the game became unplayable. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Any one else experience this?

Bit of fun: In port, I steered my boat straight at the approaching Bismarck and the brute went into reverse, faster than my flank speed, to avoid me! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif I guess her Kapt was well aware of who was sinking the most enemy ships and was just showing me the respect I deserved. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

hmm Havent tried world mod.
I did do some tests in the mission editor tho, I created a naval battle of about 20 ships, 10 per side, (basically a british taskforce vs a german one.) I also threw about 8 planes in to the equasion.... I got no noticable slowdown, frame rates stayed at about 30 or so.
im running a 'fair' but not Uber gaming rig
which is Athlon 64 939 3000, 1gb RAM and a 6600GT. What are your specs?

Specs: A 'should upgrade soon' P4 2.55Ghz, 512MB RAM and a trusty old workhorse Radeon 9700 Pro. Without World mod, the only bit of SH3 that gives a problem is the band and crowd on the dockside, dropping me to 15 FPS. Out to sea its running around 60 to 70, with close-ups of exploding/burning ships dropping down to around 25 to 30 FPS. World mod just kills it.

If i were you Id get antoher 512 RAM going up to 1GB should improve your FPS quite significantly. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Your processor and graphics card are cool, you shouldnt really need to upgrade them just yet http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I agree...his system is fine and should handle things fine. But as JuJU says another gig of RAM will do wonders. Just make sure it's "matched". NewEgg.com has it up in their Daily Specials every so often for a very reasonable price.

266 Mhz RAM is as scarce as hen's teeth in South Africa and where I've found it, its been way more expensive than much faster RAM. Must have some premium collector's value it seems. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif No point getting a Gig of faster RAM though, my mobo only drives up to 266 MHz. SH3 runs fine, I'll just leave off World mod for now.

Plans are afoot for me to get my grubby hands on a new graphics card, then I'll go Pcie and a Gig of fast RAM. No rush, thanks to old faithful, the 9700 Pro. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the input. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Just a quick note, you'll probably find that the faster RAM DDR 3200 (400 mhz) will run fine in your system, and you can use it down the line if you ubgrade your MObo, or go down the Athlon 64 route (which is the only way to go at the moment) You gotta be totally insane to choose a P4 775 setup (which will be dead by the end of the year) over a AMD 939 system (supports FX and duel core cpus. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I did install the World 3.0 mod about a week ago and had problems loading old career patrols. I had to go back to one that was 'in base after patrol'. Then it stopped CTD.

I have also noticed that last few times I loaded a patrol that the game studdered for about the first 30 seconds, but then ran good.

And I'm not sure if this is from the World 3.0 mod or not, but I'm betting a TON of more aircraft patrols attacking me. So much that I had to learn how to conserve battery juice. I got myself into a position at first where I was off the coast of England with about 20% battery during the day and every time I surface to recharge I got pounded by 10 aircraft within 2 minutes. I finally figured out that I need to lower my speed to save battery and stay submerged during the day. That has helped a lot.
