For all the ones outhere wanting for a good and complete setup, here's mine... UBI, feel free to include it/use it as base for an eventually new included default keyboard setup :PPP

The most important thins about a keyboard setup for a flight sim is that it absolutelly has to be LOGICAL in order to memorize that large amount of keyboard functions!

Notes:
1) The ... parts are left untouched, therefore I won't list them in here. Many of the functions without an assigned key were in fact cleared of their default assigned key, as you'll never use the kyes for those functions (like the aileron, rudder, elevator movement keyboard controls... i mean come on UBI, IL2 CAN'T be ever played only with a keyboard!!!)
2) As Ctrl something is easier to press than Shift something i used Ctrl as primary, for higher/rise/increase actions, and Shift for lower/down/decrease actions (with some exceptions)
3) Trims are set un arrows - imagine that the arrows represent and airplane saw from behind, the left and right arrows will be wings (where ailerons are), up arrow is the horizontal stabilizer (where the rudder is) and the down arrow are the vertical stabilizers (where elevators are); Shift for negative setups, plain for normal/reset, Ctrl for positive setups.
4) Numbers (NOT the Numpad ones) and - = keys are used for the engine setups - plain for power, with CTRL for mixture and with Shift for pitch
5) Magneto is on Ctrl ; ' keys ("underneath" ; ' radio keys)
6) All supercharger commands are on S
7) Engines selections are on Ctrl Shift , . / for general selections ("underneath" interface switches , . / keys) - , for the left ones . for the right ones / for all of them), and on Ctrl Shift 5 6 7 8 for each specific one (there is no need for setups with more than 4 engines... at least yet!
8) All gear commands are on G
9) I only put weapon 1 and 2 on Joystick buttons as I am using a programmed josytick which can attach key functions for joystick's normal/shifted buttons (so I am using Joy 1, Joy 2 for weapon 1, weapon 2 and Joy Shift 1, Joy Shift 2 for weapon 3, weapon 4)... there's no need to lose another joystick button for weapon 1+2, most of the times you want to use them independently, andwhen you want them toghether, you can press them both in the same time... and also put pods on P key (much intuitive :PPP)
10) All guns/bomb sight controls are on NumPad keys, all with CTRL to avoid break the IL2 default view use of NumPad keys (for the ones without TrackIr and still using their joystick's hat/keys for view changing!!!) - the bottom row (NumPad 1, NumPad 2 and NumPad 3) are from left to right for altitude, distance and velocity settings (in order of their importance); the NumPad 4 and NumPad 6 are for left/right adjustments; the central NumPad 5 is for toggling sight auto mode ON/OFF
11) All pilot views on N (only for 2 positions, as most of the planes have only a pilot, or a pilot and a rear gunner)
12) All autopilot commands on A
13) All light commands on L
14) All interface switches on , . / for mirror modes, icon types, speedbar modes ("above" general engine selecting Ctrl Shift , . / keys)
15) All game commands on Q (save track, mute sounds)
16) Radio keys on ; ' ("above" magneto CTRL ; ' keys)
17) Time control keys on [ ] \ (upper right keyboard area, next to the engine ones) - I've used Z for time zkip too (as it is easier than Ctrl \ for the left hand use while you still have the right one on your joystick)... also moved the Pause function from old P to Windows Pause/Break button (which is away enough from the other keys to avoid the possibility to press it by mistake... and also would clear the P key to use it for the gunPods toggle)

S! Great post buerebistas,
I just installed the game last night and started setting up the keys. I was thinking, why the heck do they have so many "USER DEFINED" keys... This is great - I will definitely use most of it, if not all...
Thanks

The only problem I can see is where do you put your joystick? I cannot reach the right side of my keyboard, because I have to reach over my stick to get there. My sticks left front corner about touches my righ-alt key. How do you position your keyboard to have clear access to the whole board?xzzxc I've tried it with it on my lap, but it's just not steady enough there.

I use G for the power gear up/down, then H for cranking gear up and J for gear down. You really have to pump it to get the gear up or down on an F4F. I found single keys best. I also use a single key, K, for chocks, as I found pumping the chock's key backs you plane down the deck, just as if the deck crew was postioning it for take-off. It can be really tricky to try to turn around on a moving deck with other planes.
