I've noticed that in campaign mode, your killcount is implelmented when you destroy a live ennemy plane (of course) but also when you fire at a wreck.

I mean if an AI teammate shoots down a plane, and you come and hit the empty shell, the kill is yours. Even if the ennemy pilot has bailed, even if there is only half a 109 left.

In campaign mode, it doesn't matter mcuh. I mean being awarded 6, 7 or 8 kills a mission doesn't change much except your self-satisfaction. But in an online dogfight, stolen victories can change the scoring...

I don't play online yet (I will when I'm trained enough). But still I was wondering weather you could become an ace by shooting the dead /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I hadn't noticed this before!
Mind you I do tend to only shoot at live targets not ones that are already dead! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Hehe, like everyone around I guess. But the fact is you don't always realize, in a middle of a 15 aircraft dogfight, that the plane you're shooting at has lost a wing /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

You can try to get the most points, but don't worry about the scoring too much.

I never knew that was possible.

Anyway, for me in campaigns, I'm now to the point of just having an enjoyable mission, since scoreing is usually botched by the kill stealing AI. In my last two missions, I made 4 enemy aircraft kills, yet the AI insisted on getting a few hits in on THREE of those kills, taking away my points. The last mission I played last night was so rediculous I almost lost it. My wing leader put a cannon shell through my engine, from 300 meters behind me, while trying to (and succeeding in) killing my target. I was able to RTB just as the engine gave out. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

So my career chart shows me having killed only 11 planes, while in reality, its closer to 20. I hope the patch will address this issue.

4 kills in a single mission? I thought I was lucky to get three and manage to bail out before my plane exploded. . .dang ultra-accurate PE-3 tailgunners get me every time.

My max killcount in a sp mission was 10 . . . And I crashed way behind enemy lines. I was eating Stukas . . which would fly in nice pretty straight/level formations. My wingmens had the escorts busy, and I stayed below tailgunner line of fire . .. just shot one after the other down . . until the escorts finished off my wingmen and I suddenly had 5 190's out for blood . . . I tried to dive and make it over back into friendly airspace . . . but they wouldn't hear of it. they ate me.

Sorry for the mistake in my writing, that was supposed to be 4 kills over the last 2 missions, or two kills per mission. My best ever is I think 3 kills, and they were TB-3's in the Experten Campaign. I still got credit for only two of them though.

My best online record is 4 kills in one flight, and I successfully RTB! I did this last week on HL in an La5, air to air kills only (no bombings or vulches). Boy was I grinning! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

My best online bombing record in a DF server is 980 points, using only the Stuka G cannons, and the Me262 250kg bombloads. What was hilarious was that I did this in just over 45 minutes, and I never died once! I would've tried for a thousand points, but by that time the previously distracted fighters were starting to notice me, and since I'd never died, I didn't want to spoil it by getting killed looking for 20 points, so I just quit for the night, LOL.

Also, does anyone know whether the patches changes to the AI will affect the stealing of kills? I don't remember reading anything about this.

Stukas are the perfect target. They can hardly manoeuver, explode in a burst, and fly slower than a Zeppelin. You shouldn't count them in your killcount, a blind and crippled rookie would eat 12 of them for breakfast.
