I was standing outside just after sunset, when I heard a jet above me, so I looked up and saw a B2! The sky was clear, the moon was up, and it was really cool. I live a couple of hours from Whiteman AFB.

I used to live near there as well. It's eerie looking up and seeing that thing flying.

I used to see them all the time, but I haven't seen many in the past couple of years. I just checked their website, and the open house is June 17-18.

You saw a B-2 to the west of you, in western sky, in the after-sunset twilight sky? That would be a beautiful sight.

I live south of it a couple of hours aswell.

They fly over from time to time. Always around July 4th for the fireworks show. Amazing bird, had one fly over work a couple of years ago, less than couple hundred feet.

I jeard tonight on the radio, that the 131st Squadron in St. Louis is being moved to Whiteman. They almost mothballed it so they said.

I never see any military aircraft flying over my little town nowdays.I use to see one or a pair of Viggen or Sk 60s now and then.
I guess it has to do with the closedown of F16 in Uppsala.I need to hear jet thunder!...anyway,they had some nice visitors there http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

In January, I was traveling through Vegas and I saw F22's taking off with F-16's. Speaking of stealth aircraft a few years ago also in Vegas. I was at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. B-2's and F-177A's were taking off and landing all day and they kept flying right over us. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Fresno California, when I was a kid back in the 70s I'd watch B-52s scream by slowly right over my house at about 1500 ft. They'd pattern over to the airport, not land, retract thier gear and flaps and head north and disapear. Never knew why they did that, but I always had to watch every second of it. Saw B2 at Edwards few years back, like a black triangle in the sky, wierd.

Does anyone ever call B-1s "Lancers"?

The more popular and logical nickname is the "Bone" (as in "B-One") http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif
