How big of a success will Silent Hunter III be?

(I think it will sell like crazy,.. people here on this forum (and in other's) would kill to get a copy of it earlier.

No idea, have yet to play it.
I gotta get my hands on it for a week or two to really get an idea of how good it will do.

To get game of the year is getting harder year year with all the competition..but this game certanily has a chance!

It really depends upon how much the game sells to I would think

I doubt it. Sims don't have that kind of push anymore. I'll root for it, though.

Well last year wasn't RTW the winner?

If that's the case SH3 may have a shot because it's definitley an "overtweaked" high quality game, just like RTW was (minus a little city managment problem in version 1).

RTW improved a lot of things from STW/MTW but they pretty much ruined it with the horrible, horrible AI , horrible game balance, and the shift toward fast, arcade battles. The main reason the first two games were popular was the strategy element which was leagues above most anything in the RTS genre short of hardcore boardgame type wargames.

A few of the mods are looking good though like Europe Barbarorum and Sengoku Jidai though they are having to do a huge amount of work to get the game back to it's roots. I hope those mods are completed and then we can get an idea of what the engine can do.

I have no doubt that SH3 is gonna be big.

No sub sim as EVER had this advanced of a graphic, sound and role playing element. No other sub sim even remotely came close to this level of cutting edge elements.

If this doesn't break into the main stream than no sub sim ever will.

I think its just too good. The graphics draw you in and hopefully the game play will keep you interested.

Game of the year? Doubt it, but wouldn't that just be too cool. I hope Ubisoft makes a killing off it.

Its will be a good game... but not the game of the year ....

maybe its will be much more like this title who won that : battlefield 2, halft life 2... Far cry etc..... did you think SHIII can beat the RTS ?? lol come on http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Game of the year? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gifno chance

Its not a shooter!

AS to the best graphics for a sub sim..surely its the best graphics for any sim! perhaps any game,as it is trying to re-create a real enviroment.

GOTY? Probably not but I wish SH3 to be a great success! That secures SH4 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif and shows that simulations can be both: detailed and entertaining for many players!

I'm afraid it won't be "Game of the year", though like IL2, it will gain enormous respect for its attention to detail, its interface and its graphics. Good gameplay would be a bonus, too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

SH III will certainly be in the running for a hefty Sim award or two. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Game of the year will have to be reserved for the very wonderful World of Warcraft, which was released here in Europe in February. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

As for upcoming FPS's, there's F.E.A.R., S.T.A.L.K.E.R., the HL2 mod DoD and Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 all due this year.

Should be very interesting!!

GOTY? Probably not. But I do think it may pick up some sim awards.

GOTY will more then likely go to Brothers In Arms : Road To Hill 30 if it is anything like the XBOX version. Some of the best gameplay I have ever seen in a shooter...if you can even call BIA that.

Probably not game of the year but that sea engine will help many other water based games.

I would not mind a proper sailing sim on that ocean. A nice yacht with a fishing line.

If fact ever since SH2 and SH3 I want to learn to sale and dream of having my own yacht. Manchester to South Africa.

No doubts, for subsimmers SHIII will be "THE GAME" or "THE SIM" for years.

But, out of specialized forums, subsimmers are a minority; maybe our number will grow, thanks to SHIII, but until now bestsellers never were subsims.
