After reading about the type IIa about a week ago, decided this boat must be the keystone of my next career.

So the Rubber Duckie set sail.

First Patrol out of Kiel via canal in September 1939 was quite interesting. Around 42k tons including a tiny raid on Lock Ewe. Unfortunately the Brits were not accomodating and no capital ships were found lounging around waiting for a fish dinner.

Second Patrol was much more interesting.

Radio report of a warship approaching my position. Ok, must be a DD, so ignored it. Immediate report of a taskforce directly in front of that last report. Hmmmm. Continued on my merry way . . . Ship spotted!

Ok, time to think about this. Just spotted a ship and it turns out to be a DD, maybe its the picket from that task force. Turn around and look more closely. As the camera is disabled, start cruising toward the task force course.

Up scope for better angle to view from . . . DD, DD, Dido, Fiji, boring, Revenge, DD
WTF, look again, DD, DD, Dido, Fiji, still boring, Revenge, DD

WO track that Revenge!

It looks like it will cross our T but at some range. Have a nice load of Electric fish (learned to love these in Silent Service [one])
4500m and it doesn't look like the Rubber Duckie can get any closer to this target.

WO, ready a 3 tube salvo, minimum spread(actually around 1 - 1.5 degrees) and open torpedoe tube doors.

Watching

Watching

Watching

Expected torpedo path at right angle to target . . .

Fire Salvo!

Woosh

Woosh

Woosh

Lets get the ***** out of here before those DDs catch on.

Turn around and start running.

Dammmmm Premature on #1

Dammmmm maybe premature on #2 also

Wham #3 hit.

Continued slipping out of the area for another minute or two. Then up scope to look around. Yes, the DDs have their lights out looking for us but have no clue where the Duckie is.

Wow, looks like the Revenge is on fire, actually it looks like we hit the forward magazine.

Scope down, continue getting outta there.

"she's going down"
"she's going down"

Check log

Revenge sunk 31000 tons
Fiji sunk 10725 tons

Nice hunting. I've never managed to pick off a major ship with a duck boat.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

didn't think I ever would either, but they never saw me coming and BDU wouldn't hang a crew for wasting 3 expensive torpedoes on the chance to down a Revenge.

Besides, this gives the ministry something to sing about.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

and they seem to body surf those sub nets.

You're quite right! ......I accidentally found out about that ability when I ran into the net guarding Portland while running full speed at periscope depth! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Sailing out of Kiel, through the Kiel canal, the captain finally openes his secret package from the office of Naval Intelligence. Reading the papers he starts to choke on his breakfast.

In a very odd voice he calls out:
Ahead Flank
Navigator plot a course for Scappa Flow.

It was a dark and stormy night
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y24/rupertlittlebear/storm1.jpg

No really it was heavy fog, raining and just a little rough on the seas, visibility around 600m.

Following the information in the secret packet the Rubber Duckie stumbles upon . . .

Oh yes, it was a dark and stormy night for the British Admiralty. One Illustrius with 2 Auxilary cruisers as chasers and a medium tanker for desert.

the next voyage was even more interesting
