Happy times!

Slightly west of Gibralter, just sit off the point while submerged and listen for the C3s to arrive. So far I have killed three. Each with one torpedo at 4m depth and impact trigger. They blow up with white flames as if they're carrying something explosive http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif.

I'm having so much fun.

I left Brest for some patrol area in CF?? where I found almost nothing. I decided to hang out near gibralter and it's really paying off. I'll post some pics of where I'm at and what I've sunk when I get home from work (in the next couple of days).

56% realism, VIIC, no mods.

If you're really brave, then try BF13, BF14, BF15, BF 16 or AM 97.

That's my favorite places to create artificial reefs, but it get a little crazy because Destroyer partols + aircraft + shallow waters= asking for death!

Ooooh, no thanks. I like the convenience of diving to 230m in a jiffy. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

For some reason, the planes to the west of Gibraltar only like to show up one at a time--so far at least. One bomb dropped right next to my conning tower, but I didn't receive any damage. I shot that plane down.

You're in 1941, right? Wait unitl 1943, that's when the B-24 Libarators shows up at the Gibralter area! Quite a thrilling experience, especially if you're like me and command a IX Class U-boat with a +37 second dive time.

Just outside Port of Spain is an excellent area for bagging tankers. You really need a Type IX to exploit it though.

Or, you can go to the arctic and stalk Murmansk Convoys. The Russia-bound ones always have 2 T3 tankers and one T2 tanker and, absent enemy carriers, there are no aircraft to worry about. However, convoys DO have 7 escorts. I'm on my 18th patrol with a IX-C, have 9 torpedos left and have sunk around 63K. I'm waiting for another convoy and 3 tankers. My back-of-the-envelope calculation tells me that if I can get all 3 and not get sunk in the process, that'll be close to 100K.

Ive noticed that many convoys travelling along the gibraltar line are protected by aircraft carriers in the late war http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Good chance to get one in front of your tubes http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Early 1940 northwest sector of AM caught a 5 column convoy of american/brits traveling at 6knts WITHOUT any escorts, what a turkey shoot that would have been but for the inexperiece I only got 2 ships using a 9b LOL, was too pissed off for missing everthing to shadow the convoy into better weather and gun anything , I just returned to base with my tail between my legs.

1940-41 CF/CE Sierra Leone-Liverpool for tankers traveling with another or c3, Liverpoole-Gibraltor lane for c2-c3/merchant combos. Always traveling NNE/NE at 9-10knts except for the 2 tanker combos that travel usually at 12knts.

March 20,1940 bagged two troop liners at BE NE corner traveling solo, actually both were within 7k of each other and visual at the same time but traveling in different directions.

Also W of Gibraltor mouth caught 2 unannouced convoys with troop liners hding 270-278 at 7-9 knts with 2 VW and 3 corvette escorts dont make my mistake and attack right away wait till they are well west of Gibraltor otherwise every dang warship in the Gibraltor horseshoe comes after you! Convoys also originate on about a 3 week schedule E of Gibraltor and procede E, although I've never attacked them because i'm usually out of torps by then in my 7 boat.

The area west of Gibraltar is indeed a good area. If your're patient, it not unlikely to find a convoy. The ones I've found have always had a few troop transports as well as a T2 and T3 tanker. As far as aircraft go, well thats hard to say. I did see aircraft escort convoy one time. I've also had them respond to my attacks on convoys. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Finally got those pics:

So far I've sunk 13 ships for a total of 55k tons--my best yet. I only have one torpedo left, though. All I'm finding now are coastal merchants. I found three C3s in a row, then three C2s in a row and I just sunk two coastal/small merchants. What a strange pattern.

Is it me, or is this plane flying a bit low? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif
