Unless he is with the group of assassins that Altair is with (and he dosen't really pit the part) than his just some random character.

Interesting, but why would they put this specific AI in so much detail?

Considering it's a picture but all the other AI are in somewhat less detail.

Maybe he's not part of the assassins. He could be like the priests where you do a side mission for him and in return he makes your weapons for the rest of the game, or something liek that.

he might be with the assassins and he's the one who makes the weapons, including the switch blade which is given to Alta´r in the enterning cerimony (when he gets his finger cut off)...
of course this is just a possibility...

blacksmiths make war materials such as weapons, armor, etc. they thrive when everybody else is in deficit. they churn out the gear like its christmas, making a profit the whole time.

Altair is going after nine bigshots who are supposedly instigating war and continuing the violence, continuing the need for equipment.

so, as wrong as it may sound, would a blacksmith really help Altair end the fighting when they prosper from it?

hum...nice point of view there...
maybe he's a target. If he's helping the 9 main targets (suplying war gear to their guards, etc), maybe Alta´r would have to take him out cutting off the weapon suply...
maybe i'm crazy, but it's just a theory...gotta wait for the real thing to come out to really see what this is all about...

or maybe the boss who wants the weapons wants to much in too little time so.. you have to save him some how like steel weapons from the boss and give the weans to him so the boss is happy (a bit)

haha... that would be like a never-ending mission then http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

the boss guy gets the stolen swords from the blacksmith, turns around to put them away, and notices some are missing! ah! well... back to the blacksmith.

You guys do realize that Blacksmiths didn't only make weapons and armor. They made Horse Shoes, metal cups, ect. Hell not even the majority of things they make are weapons, well at least most of the time.

But still, I some how doubt that Ubisoft would make a Blacksmith more then he has to be.

Unless the blacksmith is working for the assassins why would Altair, a supposed master assassin, tell some random blacksmith his position, possibly giving up his I.D. to the guards? I would find it much more likely if Altair posed as a random citizen wanting self protection then giving out his true nature, therefor the blacksmith would have no quarrel selling weapons to Altair. Or it's possible that the blacksmith just doesn't like the crusaders trying to "purify" his country.

Oh boy isn't speculation fun! I mean it's probably just some random A.I. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

i agree... i think altair would just pretend to be a normal guy. i was just saying the blacksmith wouldnt work for the assassins, they'd work for independent people and the armies if they wanted a profit. i dont think they would knowingly help out an organization trying to end all the tussling.

they have fortresses and small defensive standing armies, why wouldnt the nizari have blacksmiths?

crusader armies tended to have thier own smithies that travelled with them to make the siege engines and running repairs

every town pretty much needed a blacksmith for day to day goods, who worked for who ever was willing to pay, the holy lands was a huge mix of jew christian and muslim so a european blacksmith making weapons might give a muslim a strange look about the request but money is money...

.. guess we can speculate somemore
