According to that video, multiplayer only supports up to 12 players?

Is this true for the PC version too?

There hasn't been a good game with less than 16 players in the last 6 years. Why the big step backwards?

Next they will tell us there isn't a stand alone dedicated server.

I have played CoD on the PS3 since release day and still do. The very best games have always been 6vs6, so 12 players makes perfect sense to me.

Perhaps they have tailored the number of players to fit the gameplay, maps and how they want the shoot outs to flow instead of just putting in a high number for bragging rights.

I bet 12 players will be just perfect for this game like it is in CoD.

It is not about bragging rights, our clan is bigger than 12 people. We all won't be able to play together.

I don't really care how big your clan is. It's a completely stupid thought that they should set the number of players to fit your clan.

The PS3 community I am a member of has around 500 members and we have gaming events each day. I have a full 100 player friend list.

But I still believe 6vs6 is the perfect size for a game.

Canis, have you even played the first Call of Juarez? It's ridiculous to say 6v6 is a good number. ***EDIT*** the PS3, online gaming... real online gaming on a computer allows people to play with more players. In the original Call of Juarez, my clan would have 12v12s and half of the match would just be us.

We're not talking about the PS3, games don't go by consoles. I played the original Call of Juarez for two years straight, anything less than 16 is completely stupid.

***please don't try to bypass the forum word filter, and let's not try and start any console vs PC arguments either***

6vs6 is fine. I don't mind if the PC version gets more, but since I play most games on my PS3 to avoid the stupid number of cheaters and hackers that exists on the PC that's where my attention is.

I find console gaming superior for several reasons. Aiming is just way too easy with a mouse. It feels like just pointing and clicking with no effort. Using dual analogue is much harder and creates a better gameplay. Then there are all the cheats I have experienced, aimbots, wallhacks etc. It wasn't so bad back in the early days of the PC, but the last 10 years it has become increasingly horrible. And no one will ever be able to bust the punks, even though some anti cheat programs create a false impression of a safe gaming environment.

But this is not about PCvsConsoles... each to his own.

But I do believe a wild west shootout is best represented with a max of 6vs6. I have played CoD with more players, but always prefer 6vs6 as it just gives the best gameplay.

MAG will come out on the PS3 soon supporting 256 players on a server, but that game is designed around that number. So it's not that the PS3 can't handle it. On the PC only planetside had that many people in a fight and it wasn't even a proper shooter.

I believe CoJ2 is designed around 6vs6, which is perfectly fine to me.

On the PC it shouldn't be a problem to get more players in each game by modifying the server settings, so I wouldn't worry about it.

And yes I did play the first CoJ, but quite frankly the multiplayer left a lot to be desired, although the unofficial patch did fix some things.

It sounds pretty good, so I just hope the production value is singificantly increased compared to the first game.

But it seems like they have focused on multiplayer as well, so perhaps they will actually give us a great wild west shooter to replace Outlaws.

Ahh... Outlaws...

In my personal opinion, LucasArts' Outlaws is the greatest Western PC game I have ever played. The music was amazing. I was very disappointed when they did not make a sequel.

Circa 1998 to 2000, I played Outlaws on a daily basis in the High Noon lobby of the Internet Gaming Zone. I loved the rivalry between the gangs and posses. I still recall the names of various clans such as the Outlaws Gang Busters (OGB), The Comancheros (CC), The Rough Riders (RR) and the Grave Diggin' Outlaws (GDO). Fun times.

Meh, multiplayer isn't looking that great. It's looking more and more like a rental unless somebody confirms that there will be new game modes added post-release.

Why? The game modes look great.
DM, TDM, Wanted mode, manhunt and legends (assault).

That sounds perfect really.

They all sound pretty similar and have been done before. Legends could be good but Iíd like to see more of it. It could get old fast if the scenarios arenít very diverse.

I want to see more game modes that use the old west setting better.

For example
1. One team escorts a wagon to a location while the other team tries to stop them (both teams on horse back).
2. One on one duels that people can spectate. At the end of a team deathmatch the highest scoring players on each team has a one on one duel.
3. I also really want to see the dynamic lobby system i discussed in another thread on the front page.

Hey Canis,

What PS3 community are you part of, I might think about joining is there a website?
