Even though the scoreboard is not the main purpose for the Quiz thread (fun and learning is), the scoreboard is running amok. A few very talented and knowledgable guys have taken a huge lead (well earned) but if we start afresh with a clean board on January 1st after choosing a "Mr Quiz 2008", this might attract new participants.

Yes I agree.

Myself Amongst others have a bit of a passion for WW2 aviation . The fact that we specialise in many different subjects. Allows us, on this thread to find out about the other minutae that perhaps we overlook. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I try to stay off it now and again. (Got that excellent New IL2 MOD. Going on.) But I cannot help myself. I have to say that the learning experience is fantastic. Finding out what many others have an interest in and learning from that. Is to my mind a great education.
Also the Fact that there is. Very little arguing. With many being able to "Fill out" some of the answers withmore detail. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Some really good questions from New participants as well.

It would be actually interesting if the thread lasts long enough to compare results from different years.

Aside from which, so long as you archive previous results, there is nothing to stop someone totaling the results across the years and finding an "all time champion" if they really wish to.

Awww you shouldn't stay away mate... beeing good at this is no argument to stay away.. quite the opposite http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif You guys "at the top" is the reason this thread lives and prosper. Your knowledge is really impressive.. my only resources are a reasonable ability too search the web and a cr@pload of... pdfs I've been collecting through the years.

I like your attitude... "compare years" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Of course I'll keep the stats... My thoughts were just that starting from scratch could maybe lure new people in, also... the possibility to "win" some kind of recognition as a "Mr Quiz [insert year] is maybe a carrot for some even though, as stated before, the learning factor and fun is the main issue here. I really like everyones attitude here; giving away the questions and no bickering amongst ourselves - a friendly get-together so far away from those holidays parlour games sessions I am... so familiar to during holiday seasons http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Good idea. Don't stay away JSG. As Orheim says 'being good at this is no argument to stay away..' Quite the opposite in fact! No dumbing down here please.
BTW the best part of this quiz for me is thinking up the next question - challenging and a bit stressful at times!

I agree with RedToo about you JSG, keem em coming.
The reason I have kept away myself is the time needed to think up a fair and reasonable question I just dont seem to have the time lately http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
Will the format stay the same or will we be able to ask questions based on other aspects of WW2?

Being a long time quiz lurker and only recently participating, I'll leave it up to the old hands. Long may it continue in whatever form http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
