Shots of the showroom! I met an American couple that were looking to add to their collection of sports cars back in Texas. They already had a Carrera S (997) and a CLK55 AMG (C209) and they were deciding between the Cayman S or Boxster S. Interesting that they wanted to buy them in Germany.

Who cares?? The Germans have got to get a clue and realize that fuel economy is the most important thing these days, not mind-numbing performance. Those days are over, I'm afraid.

Weak-minded and insecure men who need to show off or feel powerful to inflate their fragile egos, can always buy older vehicles. There is no more room for testosterone fueled racing vehicles. Where might one legally utilize this power without getting arrested anyway? Besides a few roadways in Germany itself of course.

If someone gave me a brand new Porsche that was the fastest and most powerful model, I'd promptly sell it and buy a Toyota Prius. Petrol/gasoline is simply too pricey these days.
And by the way, if guys wish to impress the ladies, they might try doing so by using charm and wit rather than flash, cars and money.

And you are one to talk with that Prius, LMAO!!!

It is no better than most diesel cars in terms of fuel economy, and not one green I have ever talked to understood that the life cycle cost of that car was indeed more costly than a standard small sedan, and all of you are ignoring the very real and ugly issue of the disposal of the very large, and very non-environmentally friendly battery pack in the Prius.

The Prius is the new driveway jewelery of wealthy tree huggers world wide.

The car makes no economic sense at all. You would be better off in a standard Civic.

Do the math.

This generation Hybrids are EXPENSIVE cars for what they offer. I bet most of the owners go once in a while and rent a good big motor car, to remember how it feels to drive a car. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Honestly I almost hate that Prius. Everytime one is merging on the highway I have to change lines because I know he won't be able to get to highway speed before he runs out of ramp. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Ever heared of the 3Liter VW lupo? Or the Audi A2 1.2TDI? They were availiable before 2000. No hybrids, just consequently designed for low fuel consumption. And i guess 3l/100km IS lowish.
Do you think that americans (for example) are better in this regard? The new Dodge Durango will be availiable as a hybrid soon. Its a 3ton monster, with a V8 Hemi, has 350HP and a top speed of 170km (thanks to the fact that its streamlined like a WALL). Would you rather buy this hybrid or a conventional 3L car like above?
Dont mix up Porsche with the rest of the (german) OEMs. You could say the same about Italians looking at Ferrari, or Engish (American) looking at Aston Martin or Jaguar (ok, indian to be soon). Dont expect those brands to be cutting edge in terms of being environmental friendly.
We have to admit tho, that the Japanese are most probably leading in hybrid technology with the Prius and the Lexus.

One more things about hybrids. A few years back they were considered to be a dead horse (and they still are to technical experts). However it looks like marketing did a good job and convinced quite a few people that there is indeed a benefit. You have to realize however that hybrids are efficient where cars in general are INEFFICIENT. Driving in and around cities. Use public transport rather than a hybrid imo if you are living in a big city with high traffic. All a hybrid does is converting kinetic energy back into battery power instead of just dissipating via the brake discs. That can however only be done while braking frequently. Put a hybrid on a highway and it wont save a drop of fuel compared to any other car. Without braking your not gonna be more fuel efficient than anyone else. Yet hybrids are technically complicated but (thus) quite are a good field for developing new technology. This is mainly the batteries, power train and (most ppl maybe wont think of this) the brake-by-wire brake system needed for that job.
If you happen to have (driven) a hybrid -depending on the brand- you are facing the risks of failure of the (electronic by-wire) brake. Depending on the technical solution you will be put into backup mode which provides decel according to legal requirements. In the US this is 0.3g for example. I have tested that with a Ford explorer on the test driving track of my company, and it was NOT funny to have to push 500N and get 0.3g decel. This is pushing 50kg with one foot; felt like driving Olegs 109 at >400km TAS. Thats hardly more than your parking brake provides. Its legal, but (imo) not necessarily safe.

mortoma, open your eyes, many people are here not just because of their interest in ww2, but also their love of amazing machines and technology, for example the masterpiece of an engine and the shell around it...i am one of those people. There was me thinking there was a natural link between a love for ww2 aviation and motor cars. How did i ever get that idea http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Anyway great pics mate, wish that RS3 was outside my house. Any chances of some GT2 pics??? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

i'm with mort. porche is too expensive and a huge waste of resources.

the prius would be a good car if exxon didn't charge royalties on those batteries. patent laws + publicly traded companies = recipe for arrested development.

i'm all for personal responsibility. driving a porche is selfish and irresponsible in my mind. there are better cars available.

with that said, i'm still driving my 93 honda del sol. 36 mpg (mixed driving) and it spanks. no problems merging, passing, or dustin drawls (southern thing).

A prius does more harm than a H2 for the life of the vehicle. Get the facts.

Agreed! Better cars like... BMW!

My folks were actually looking into buying a Prius some 2 years ago. They also tried Peugeot and Citroen. I wasn't impressed by any of them, Prius was plain crappy comfort and performance wise. Then I took them to a BMW dealer and said - You gotta chek one more car out. And they litterary drove away with a brand new 5-series sedan!

Seriously, I can't understand people buying and driving SUVs!

Fuel economy is important these days, but Porsche is a maker of sports cars and whoever buys them doesn't give much thought to this. Porsche's are also "low volume sellers" in comparison to other makes.

And I'm sorry to dissapoint you, but Hybrids in general are so overrated when it comes to fuel economy. The advantage of a hybrid is within an urban environment. Leave that and your fuel economy drops like a brick. Take a look at the Lexus hybrids? Good gas mileage in the city, but poor fuel economy in mixed driving, reduced trunk space and payload capacity (the GS450h and LS600h have virtually no trunks and a laughable payload capacity). A diesel-hybrid makes more sense, especially in overweight luxury cars. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Besides, I posted these pictures not to piss off Greenpeace activists, but for people to enjoy the stunning designs and cars made by Porsche. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

From what I understand, all official Porsche used cars can be viewed on their main website. Go to www.porsche.com, (http://www.porsche.com,) select location/continent and you'll find what you're looking for.

In this case, select Europe > Germany and if you want to locate this specific Porsche, try "ZUFFENHAUSEN, STUTTGART". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Something more powerful for sure! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I currently have the standard 18-55mm lens. It's adequate for most situations but the maximum zoom is pretty weak.

I think for my needs a 28-200mm would be great. Extreme, but I need this! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
