probably going wireless this friday, so I saw a usb adaptor now is out, is it beter than the card with the antenna? hate to get wrong stuff, seems any store these days is all about a stugumby and his money are soon parted.
have seen linkseys and another brand, seems linkseys is the preferreed and do i need speed booster or just regular, distance will be 30 feet from one end of house to other type, through 2 rooms and walls ??

No expert here but have two desktops wirelessly connected to a Wanadoo Livebox for internet and networked to each other for file sharing and printing. Both use USB adaptors, one the Wanadoo job and the other a cheapy from Savastore with no problemo. Distance apart is a bit more than your example and perhaps a few more walls plus upstairs / downstairs.
I too have seen Linksys and they seem to be okay.

I pick up wireless networks around my neighborhood that are thousands of feet from my house.. I can't figure out why people complain about distances... my D-Link Router and wirless stuff picks up everything...
