Hi,

I read just on www.gamers.nl (http://www.gamers.nl) that microsoft stops
with producing of the excellent sidewinder products.
The reason for that is that people most often
plays rpg etc.

So people are now dependable of thrustmaster and
logitec.

4 months ago i bought a thrustmaster but that
was a disaster. 2 weeks ago i bought a microsoft
sidewinder 2. This is an excellent joystick.

Its a pitty.

could you explain what thrustmaster stick that was and why it was so horrible?

cause i plan to buy a new stick and the TM Afterburner FFB (the one with the detachable throttle) is my favourite... (Altough i´m not so sure about it, the X45 should be really great but it´s got no FFB - and most people say that FFB adds some realism and a "feeling" for the plane")

thanks!

There are plenty of other joysticks on the market, many of them equal to or better than the M$ series. Logiteck is pretty good for the money, but I think the M$ are better. Saitek makes good sticks; not the best quality, but excellent value. If you've got the $$, Cougar is really nice. As long as there are ppl playing these games there will be a diverse market for joysticks, so don't worry too much.

TM products have changed a bit from the days when Boomer used to hang out on newsgroups and tell people how to disassemble their stick and fix it with the parts kit he'd just mailed them for free.

I have a TM Firestorm Dual Power 2 stick - it's not bad but the build quality could certainly be better. Had to re-glue and re-solder bits on it a couple of times now, and I mainly just use it for driving games - god help this thing if it was used for beat 'em ups or something. Definitely doesn't have the cast-iron feel of TMs early gear. Ever since they were bought out they've been making silly-looking and plastic feeling gear.

hi,
That was a thrustmaster afterburner 2.
I had problems with the hat button.

You never knew when the hat up worked or not.
And when it didn`t also one of the firebuttons didn`t work.

You can understand that when you are online you have
much anger when it happens.

Once I had opened the joystick but I couldn`t find
any trouble.

I`m glad that I know have a sidewinder 2.
