Found this test link from test done a few weeks ago.
Shows that IL2 has no real benefit from an SLI system, dissapointing really.Other games seem to benefit greatly.Maybe BOB [and dual screen and 6 point TrackIR or 3D glasses!]. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Unfortunately, no data is shown for PF 4.01m, or the upcoming 4.02.

I've just installed a pair of 7800 GTXs in a an FX57 rig. After I tweak the system, I'll tweak the game setting and let you know how it runs.
IMO, with all of the eye candy cranked up it will give the GTXs a run for their money.

My only current beef with nVidia is their sketchy drivers. Hopefully things will improve, as their programmers learn to produce efficient drivers and firmware, to keep pace with the new hardware.

Not so strange since the game engine was developed in 2000-2001.

What do you expect from 1C, that every time there is a change in the hardware scene they adjust their entire game engine to incorporate it and release it to the public in a free patch?

Agree. Saying IL2 is not optimized for SLI is like saying MS/DOS games are not optimized for Windows XP. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Are you kidding? You got it all wrong...... Oleg and 1C are supposed to be able to see into the future......... at least 5 years into the future....

I'm sure BoB will be leaps and bounds improved over FB.

But I predict many players will still be playing FB long until BoB actually comes out with a theater people will WANT to fly in.

BoB is just over done and boring. But the engine should be nice, which is why I'll be getting it.

Boring....hardly....I can't wait for Oleg's BOB. My squad leader is gonna be pissed as I wing over across the channel to do some jerry vulching. I hope we can load a 500 pounder or atleast drop some grenades on the mess. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Once again - 9/10 it's a driver issue.

Uninstall your old drivers, clean the buggers out with Driver Cleaner Pro (freeware), install a new set of drivers that are AS NEW/NEWER than 77.xx - those drivers aren't as good for single cards, but they solve a lot of the SLI performance/glitch issues.

My pair of 7800GTXs run like lightning on the 77 series forceware, as I said in the last thread we had on this exact topic http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

OK, with my 7800GTXs operating at stock cadences (450/1.2).
Anti-aliasing = 8xS forced.
Anisotropic filtering = 16x forced.

My monitor is an 22" LG N2200P studio reference CRT with the refresh rate set @ 120.

I'm running 4.01M with these OpenGL settings:

HardwareShaders=0

Shadows=1
Specular=3
SpecularLight=2
DiffuseLight=2
DynamicalLights=1
MeshDetail=2
VisibilityDistance=3

Sky=1
Forest=3
LandShading=3
LandDetails=2

LandGeom=2
TexLarge=1
TexLandQual=3
TexLandLarge=1

VideoSetupId=3
Water=3
Effects=1
ForceShaders1x=0

So far, everything looks great and runs as smooth as silk.
The real test will be how they hold up during extended online play and with the GPUs maxed out.

Pacific Yes! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif Which is one reason why they Oleg/UBI could continue making money selling Pacific Map Addon CDs with simplified LARGE Pacific maps.

That's exactly why Oleg chose BoB as the first use of the new game engine -- limited geographical area, limited time, and those to put together make limited planeset (not small, just limited to summer 1940 France/Britain area. Limited geography helps the development of new concepts like ground based radar and ground obsevers that will be useful later, for example Aussom Awssie Coast Watchers, and billions of Chinese ground observers with telephone lines to Flying Tigers and Soviet Volunteers. Stuff like this would add many new features for campaign use.

Italians in BoB has never been done. 1944 Western Europe is really the only overdone theater. As far as boring, some like their flight sims overcooked, irradiated, sterilized, homogenized, and Pastuerized. I prefer raw theater product like Spanish Civil WAR, China, Easter Front, Poland, etc...

I believe the proper way to say it is "SLI is not optimized for IL2." AFAIK, SLI has to be individually configured for each program by nVidia. I think the newest drivers include an IL2 SLI profile, but I'm not certain on that.

Why hardwareShaders=0 with a 7800gtx?

I a bit worried when I see someone with a 2x7800GTX rig flying with Hardwareshaders=0 LOL!

Are you flying OPEGL or DirectX ?

Could you post some pictures so that we can get a better idea about what you really see?

Example:
and the moment of truth http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif

I installed the 7800GTX extreme in my PC after taking some screenshots with my 6600GT.
P4 HT 3,4GHz 1,5Gb RAM Audigy2
1024x768 2AA 16AF water=3 and a lot of high quality settings etc...
IL2FB video: Corsairs attacking Jaanese destroyer

NVIDIA 6600GT (overclocked) driver ver.: 66.72
http://www.e-335thgreeksquadron.com/Athos/6600GT_GRATHOS.jpg

NVIDIA 7800GTX (extreme) driver ver.: 78.03
The settings are a bit higher
http://www.e-335thgreeksquadron.com/Athos/7800GTX_GRATHOS.jpg

Quite a few things missing I would rather say.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

For me the 6600GT has much better graphics, unfortunately with so low 16FPS it is unplayable.
The 7800GTX has 3 times the FPS power at 59FPS, which is not bad at all! (actually at equal settings as the 6600GT I get 77FPS !!)

So, the 7800GTX is the monster of performance but, these drivers NEED TO BE FIXED VERY QUICKLY http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif
