I've been watching this for over 3 years now, with great anticipation. This isn't being done by Oleg it seems, but rather 1C. They are however, using the IL2 Engine.

Has anybody heard more info on this game by any chance?

DOn't quote me on this but I seem to remember this being canned.

And since nothing new has come out in 2 years, it would seem so.

Maybe someone else can tell us different? I hope so, it looks wicked.

Found out some more info on it, actually.
Turns out that Codemasters has picked up the publishing deal for it.

Some sites list it as either an "April 2006" or "TBA 2006" release date. Considering there's nothing really recent being shown, my guess is a summer or fall 2006 release. Looks hot though!

I thought Codemasters originally had it on their site, but then dumped it (as publishers), but I'm sure when I last searched for this (Codies called it Wartime Command), it had changed its name but was still on the cards - the 1C site still has it listed as in development I think. When Oleg did his presentation ath the International Flight Sim show in 2004 he showed some stills of BOB but some of the shots of armoured vehicles were identical to the earlier Codies shots from Wartime Command so clearly many links going on there between developing 1C games.

Taken from C&VG site, July 2005 news item:

Codemasters has announced that it has chosen to drop publishing duties for PC RTS Wartime Command: Europe at War 1939 - 1945 after what it describes as "a long and bumpy ride both developing and supporting this title".
In development at 1C, Wartime Command looked highly promising when it was originally unveiled back in early 2002 under the title WWII RTS and was being hailed as an ultra-sim promising incredible attention to detail. However, it sounds as though the project wasn't meeting certain standards expected by Codemasters.

"There have been some issues during the design and implementation of the ideas for the game, that both 1C and Codemasters have wanted," Codemasters has stated in a letter to its Wartime Command community. "Unfortunately", it continued, "delays to the launch were inevitable, and it is with great regret that Codemasters have decided to not proceed with this title".

According to the publisher, 1C is continuing development of Wartime Command under its original name WWII RTS, but whether it'll now see the light of day is unknown.
