take offs ,landings and ground attack are fine...staying alive against other aircraft is proving to be a problem...any info would be greatly appreciated.

I`m beginning to enjoy flying P38s lately. those big engines make me feel safe as well as block my view.

Seriously though, I`ve been doing quite well in them and even surprised myself by getting involved alone with a late 109 and holding up against him for a good few minutes. Unfortunately, I blew it and he got on my six which ended the matter....

Nice aircraft nontheless.

It's just too big... But it's good against early to mid war Japanese fighters.

I'll say. And 2x1000lb'ers and 10 rockets make it a wicked ground pounder. On Spits-v-109's a couple days ago, we had a flight of 7 P-38's (all loaded for bear) and proceded to roll the map in one sortie. We'd approach a target area and 2 ships would start a shallow dive while the rest continued on and repeated this until we were all down to guns-only and looking for a pair of artillery units to roll the map...which we got.

When the map began reds outnumbered the blues 2
:1 so we all took mudmovers. About halfway through the sortie, the sides were even (actually we were outnumbered by 1 pilot!) and those last few strikes were hairy indeed.

Very cool and great fun. I wish I would have recorded it.
