I had a great time tonight on the TX server..flying planes I dont normally fly in FR. Since I have to go to work in the am I decided to leave when I saw it was getting late (@12 or so). Anyway...to make a long story short.... I made the mistake of trying a WW1 style QM before I shut down... Bad move... It's almost 2 and I just now got off..and that was with much much difficulty... I had never done this before...Set up a QM using P-11s & I-153s... with 16 planes and different skins (some of Jester's P-11 & 153 skins from IL2 Skins) FANTASTIC!!!!! It put a whole new realm into this sim for me. (Which was hard to do because I am crazy about it ANYWAY!!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) It is a totally different level of dogfighting with those old planes. It would be nice to have as many WW1 style skkins for these planes as we can get. If I were a skinner I would do it myself but at the moment my skinning skills are confined to putting my name on my planes and things like that not the works of art some of our talented skinners come up with. I am surprised it took me so long to do this (Set up a WW2 QM) but it was a TOTAL BLAST!!!! This sim still gives me such an awesome fun factor as to be almost something mystical. Sheer fun... sheer FUN!!!! The DMs and FMs on those old planes are totally different!! Pilot kills??!! Well.... you have to get sio close..whern you kill the pilot the plane actually spirals out of control...depending on what the pilot was doing..... sometimes it will just stay level and keep going...sometimes it will roll over and go down..... Sure the WW2 birds do that too...but its a little different with the open birds. I have been PKd by the AI several times tonight...hardly ever happened before...but then...HEY!!! Im in an open cockpit..... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif It just completely blows me away. Who needs a WW1 sim..LOL...? (Not that I am not looking forward to that Knights over Europe sim...or LOMAC..when I get it....but..... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif) Put in the P-80 and maybe a Mig and you would have the ultimate all in one flight sim. From WW1 to Korean War style fighting. I am just floored......... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Man O Man..... I DIG THIS SIM!!!!!!!!!!

LoL.. TX server full real? wow.. when did they start that; must have caused quite an uproar for some of those TX members. =)

Russian aircraft require skill to fly.
German aircraft require ten times that skill, and one hundred times the patience!

A Myth

There was no change in basic air combat from 1916 until the missiles in the 1960s. SPADs were used as BnZ fighters against Triplanes. Russ I16s were used to BnZ more maneuverable Jap planes over Mongolia. Nothing new under the sun. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
I can't wait for CR42 and Gladiator, then maybe we can get some real Biplane servers up (with P11c and *hopefully* Ki27 monoplanes of course).

Salute Bearcat99!
I had a blast in the TX server too. It's nearly full real, but they left the minimap icons onso we could find our way around, and the speedbar. Greatergreen operates that way too. Bear, perhaps you should design a full real mission for the squadron? It's very interesting, and difficult at first, trying to navigate to an area, fight, then navigate back to base. I'm not sure I'll ever get good at it, but it adds a lot to the immersion.(Perhaps Carbonfreeze can direct us to a full real server? I know I'd like a few tips on navigating, and surviving in full real. How about it Freeze?)

Anyway, I enjoyed the TX server too. Hey, while flying the anti-tank Stuka I managed to shoot down a marauding IL-2 tht was blasting a blue convoy. He saw me and tried to maneuver away, but I got a (real) lucky shot in and the plane disintergrated! Great stuff!

Took your advice, QMB I-153 vs P-11. Great! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Got in some real close rolling scissors, was inside of 150 metres for several minutes (or 30 secs, who knows), that roll- and turn-rate is awesome!

Hmm...KoE will be excellent. No doubt. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
