Any opinions? I just started using it.

i used it for some time, then dumped it for Opera... i still like firefoz more than Opera, but IMHO, Firefox lacks a nice way of organizing bookmarks. That was the sole reason, for wich i changed it... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Excellent browser. Wouldn't use anything else. IE is a spyware magnet.

Used to have it up to 1.0 - that version has some nasty bugs. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Been using it for a week coming from mozilla. The interface is kindof boring and sparse but the feature set seems to be excellent. Its small, fast, easy to use and secure (saved passwords can be encrypted). Coupled with a couple plugins I found (bugmenot) Im thinking this bad boy is a keeper. No crashes or incompatabilities yet. 10 million downloads in a month say its worth a try, no?

It's awesome. Many extensions allow you to customize it in ways IE can only dream of. It's more secure, not only can you encrypt passwords, but it's not integrated into the OS like IE is.

For example, these are the extensions I use and recommend:

Permit Cookies: browser won't accept cookies, but w/ alt+C you can allow the site your @ to place cookies.

Spellbound: spell checker

Bug me not: right click on any sign-in field and bug-me-not inserts a UN and PW for you (keeps you from registering @ a million sites you may only visit once)

IE view: right click any link and choose to open the target in IE

Ad block: Right click banners and flash ads and choose not to display them ( a must for the animation @ the top of PF and IL2 main pages)

Dictionary Search: highlight any word, and look it up.

Image Zoom: name says it all.

Advanced Highlighter button: like the highlighter button in the google toolbar (you can get the google toolbar for firefox as well)

There is also the search field that comes w/ firefox by default. you can search google, yahoo, amazon, ebay, dictonary.com, plus many others you can add.

You'll still have to keep IE around though...Mozilla doesn't support ActiveX, and some websites won't work w/o it (windows update most notably)

I'm using it right now. I do still use IE some though because firefox isn't always compatable with webpages.

You may want to try Maxthon Browser. Lots of very nice features.

I have tried Firefox several times but don't find it user friendly. It may be ok for the tech savvy but not for uniformed like me.

For example, I just tried to download Spellbound. What a bunch of gobbledy****! They have more versions of Windows than I ever knew existed. And what do all those libraries mean?

I tried the free Firefox about a year back. It was decent.

Shortly thereafter I sent Mozilla $5 for a CD with their Mozilla 1.6 browser. Works a lot better. Now they have Mozilla 1.7.

At the moment it beats the hell out of IE and with my McAfee I've been virus free for all of 2004. Crossing fingers now.

Firefox = Best browser ever

Right now, I will use nothing else unless I absolutely have to.

Hi, I am using it right now. I my opinion it is a very good browser. I have uninstalled IE, but it seems to still be around in Windows Update. I havent desided which I prefer Monzilla vs Opera. Probably Opera. There are issues with Monzilla, but then again, Opera have grown to much, Monzilla has the cleanest design.

Test out both Opera and Monzilla. IE is not an option IMHO

Firefox is excellent. I've used many versions for quite a while now. Firefox is FAR more user friendly than IE. I absolutely *hate* having to use IE at customer sites.

I find Firefox is easier to use because it doesn't have a ton of useless features and whatnot that IE has.

What is Spellbound? Thats not anything part of Firefox that I know of.

If you find the interface boring try some themes. Noia 2.0 Extreme is great for me. I've been using it quite a bit. Tried some other themes but this one seems to be the best realized.

Firefox 0.93. Tried 1.0 & 1.0pr, went back to 0.93. Much more stable & secure than IE.

My Firefox blocks almost every popup and barely allows any spyware. Its much more effective than IE, and even Opera in this regard. I use version 1.10 and for me its been the most stable. Georgeo has pointed out some very good plugins which I also use. They're very small downloads and instantly install.

It was a spell checker mentioned in georgeo76's post.

I still use Firefox but haven't yet got the faith to use it as my default browser. Maybe that will change shortly as I get the hang of it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Finally figured how to download Spellbound, the spell checker for Firefox. The trick was to Google search for Spellbound using Firefox and then go to the Installation page and follow directions there and NOT the download page.

As I said before, not really user friendly but I can be a stubborn sob when I get mentally challenged. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
