Probably LOMAC for me. I like FB, don't get me wrong but I've always been hyped for LOMAC, even before I was into IL2.

I think it all comes down to playability. I think LOMAC will be stunning and excellent in many ways but FB is a great arena for online play. LOMAC, not sure MP will be as long lived. I've never played any game online as much as IL2/FB and I've played some great games.

lomac looks pretty descent, but Im not buying and nothing compairs to close dogfighting of wwii, looking at the hud go blip then pressing fire for your missle over 6 miles away without seeing the plane = boring!. Hurt ubi in the pocket so they decide to stick to wwii

Never tried a jet sim before, maybye I'll like it maybe not, I doubt it will surpass IL2/FB in stick time.

Why don't you just all read the War Stories by Ian Boys?

http://www.lo-mac.com/convoy_attack_1.php

http://www.lo-mac.com/fighter_sweep_1.php

This might help clear up that modern day combat is not that easy and boring as you make it out to be.

Funny thing is: I joined this board way back BECAUSE of LOMAC, hence the nick (fan of jets). Since then though, IL-2 has become the ONLY game I play. I'll still probably get LOMAC, but I doubt it will replace FB as the mainstay of my entertainment.

One thing though, saying jet combat is boring has got to be the weakest, dumbest argument there is. Information/Avionics management aside, the PACE of combat is so fast it's anything but boring. If you think flying Full Real in FB gets you paranoid, try flying in an environment where you could be nailed from 20+ nautical miles out by an AIM-120. Adrenaline-wise you get pumped from the moment you take off as you frantically scan horizon, radar display, EWR and AWACS datalink for contacts, coz if they see you first... KABLOOOIE!

And of course, there's always the gunzo head-to-head competitions which will equal any WWII thrill provided the FM is modeled accurately enough - and you can rest assured Eagle Dynamics' track-record in that respect is impeccable.

If you still don't believe me, try shooting for a landing on a rolling pitching deck only 150 yards long while going 150knots+ lest you stall... at night... in the middle of a storm! Sweaty palms? You bet!! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

i will be playing FB version 1.1

WW2 sims (il2fb) IMO are far better than jet sims

does this mean the people who say they will be playing lomac will all move to the lomac forums (if there is one) ?

From the horde of noobs who jumped on the ME262 simply cos it was a jet, thinking it would make them UBER good, chances are they`ll all run to LOMAC.
That means less kidified childishness on FB /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif and we`ll have decent forums and kids moaning about no me262s in multiplay will be a thing of the past!

No disrespect to the adult players in LOMAC- but watchout! Multiplier will be a nightmare! Your forums will be riddled with pimpled faced muling kids all firing unlimited aa missiles at eachother and flying in 3rd person view, superman view, etc.! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

At least right now, there not so many kids over in the other forum, and I don't think that much will go there. And even then, if you play online, you will again be able to have full real servers were those kiddies don't even dare to tread, lest they be shot down.

Staying with FB. LOMAC looks v. interesting but WW2 is my preferred period of aviation history.
Cheers.

Well with FB in the state as it is, I'd definately play LOCK ON much more than FB. If the patch makes the campaign more playable/enjoyable, then it might be FB.

Think I'll be playing Lomac for a while offline (especially the Hog! Wanted to fly that plane ever since Microprose's A-10), but I think I'll soon get back to FB. Nothing beats the thrill of pre-missile combat, the heart-pounding action of a Stuka divebombing run, and the sheer beauty of WW2 planes (Whoa! Gotta get into advertising ^_^), but Jetsims can be fun. Played EF-2000 a lot, and F22 from the same company. Good games! But WW2 is more interesting for me. Plus I think online the action will be much more interesting in FB. I mean:

-BEEP-
*pulls the trigger*
*enemy plane dissappears from the radar*
*small puff of smoke can be seen in the distance*
WHOA! I FRIGGIN' OWNED YOU! NOOB!

Ehm. Yeah ^_^

Lomac online with either guns only or low PK, rear aspect heaters will hook allot more of you "I dont like jets" types than you may think.

Dogfights are dogfights once you merge. So long as the game plays well, VFA 25 will mostly be in Lomac.

i will be playing both....i love jets but i have to admit that FB made me fall in love with WW2 planes too.
the persentage of the gaming will be based on
a) who good will my pc play lomac
b) what will my squadron do.

but both shall be rocking my boat i think/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

LOMAC! for me...Right now theres too many WW2 sims on the current market, not that i dont like them and find IL2 Sturmovik to be the best so far in this genre. There hasn't been a good modern flight sim lately. Looks like UBI will have another winner from the looks of it /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

LOMAC is gonna be a huge resource hog..I bet more will fly FB instead once they find out that they'll need more power to run LOMAC as pretty as they run FB.

Yes, LOMAC is the forum shorthand for Lock-On: Modern Air Combat

Don't worry about who I am...just trust that LOMAC will require a lot more at the processor than FB.

P.S. The F-15 roll rate is Un-Godly...WooHoo

LOMAC in gunzo dogfight (especialy in MP) is something hot! You need all the skills of a decent dogfighter needs in FB...

I`ll try LOMAC, but my main interest is in WW2 Sims - usually MMOG, but FB is so far unsurpassed in complexity and eye-candy.

I just love the man-versus-man, close range, oil spilling, lead guessing combat in machines that were less than perfect, rushed off from design to production lines. All the limits to it - no 80 degree climbs off the runway, and grass fields...

Not that it doesnt look like a nice game, I prefer props to jets.
