View Full Version : Is anyone modelling the Dornier Do-165?

It was used in numbers in the east, was a fine looking aircraft, and was probably the best of it's type. I don't know why Oleg never included it.

Crikeys SkyChimp, I can't even find a picture of it on the net. I looked at the new IL2FB database, and they don't have this plane listed.

I reckon you should post something on their forum, and discuss it. The folks over there are really cranking out the models at the moment, and I'm sure they'd be willing to help you out or at least post the plane on the list for someone else to work on.

Hope that helps.

Here is the link. It was done for a bit today, but seemed to work most other times I've tried it. They are in the process of opening up shop, might be growing pains.

You know, the Do-165. It was that German plane that was so much better than everyone elses. Is anyone modelling it?

I think it was called the Vondershlicker.

Bavaria is one of the oldest European states.
It dates back to about 500 A.D., when the Roman Empire was overcome by the onslaught of Germanic tribes. According to a widespread theory, the Bavarian tribe had descended from the Romans who remained in the country, the original Celtic population and the Germanic invaders.

but my scanner is down at the moment.
this is the only one i have right now :

http://www.luftwaffe.de/do165/picture0815

i found a short story about an D0 165 pilot:

i translated it ( sorry for my poor english )

......... after take off, leutnant Dieter Bohlen and his Wing Verona Feldbusch ran into an large formation P51 .
after 5 min of intensive dogfights , where 3 mustangs went down, Leutnant Dieter Bohlen found his master . Captain Ralph Siegel in his silver Mustang was going on Leutnant Bohlen tail . but Feldwebel Feldbusch took care about Dieters machine, pressed the trigger but missed Captain Siegel.
he dived away with Verona Feldbush on his tail..............

sorry guys, my wife is calling me,

Wasn't that the same famous pilot Bohlen who had Lt Anders as radio engineer and "rear" gunner in his DO165?
The guy who introduced the new german radio code called "modern talking" which scared the hell out of all the allied pilots who tried to listen to german radio???

I got this book called "The Complete Book Of Fighters" and I cant see that type in there and that book got every AC that flew, even obscure protytypes that just flew once. Now the Dornier-Werke AG (Doflug) got a contract to design a multrole fighter called D-3802,with four machineguns in the wings and a single engine mounted 20mm cannon.later those machineguns was replaced with a pair of cannons.Max speed 692km/h. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

The great Do165 was also called "Essiggurke" or "Leberkaesesemmerl" by the German pilots which clearly shows the respect and opinion they had of this plane. Maybe you'll find pictures of it when you look up it's most famous pilot on the net: as already said D. Bohlen.

Vorderschinken???? Yes that does explain the misspelling like Vonderslicker. That's just the same as with the Arado Ar-211 Humpfenschtrunk. one of most underestimated fighterguys .
this is his story.

http://www.lesewelt.de/rubriken/belle/bio/bilder/1202bohlen.jpg

in one of his storys ,he wrote about " sakrischen nahkampf " with some female Russian soldiers late in the war.
also he has flown the mustang and he said:
that plane was so nasty, all instruments were in english, unflyable for a real pilot, just for , in his words, "Warmduscher ".

yes, indeed he is a true hero.
he is still alive and he is trying to buy a house in the starnberg county .

Gibbage, i tried to contact you through UBI but yesterday i got a message it had failed. You really look for a new project ???

I offered earlier 100, even 200 euro's to any modeller who wants to make a Fokker D-XXI.

I really believe that one was very important for the Finnish Airforce.

Can I get you interrested ??

groeten, Jos van Dijck

JaVA Boys, zullen we sam-sam doen ??

I did a litle research about this story, and the most interesting part of it is imho., that the bullets fired by Captain Siegel´s P51 missing Leuntnat Bohlens DO 165 but, after spending 3 days in a low orbit, falling back to earth and destroyd 3 Tiger tanks in the area around Kursk.
(it´s a well known fact that a cal. 50 is also a formidable anti satelite weapon - ask Gibbage about details)

THIS MAN FLEW THE Do 165, AND HE WAS ONE OF THE BEST.

if somebody want to know , what happened to Captain Ralph Siegel, United States Army Airforce in his silver mustang , Feldwebel Feldbusch, called Blupp, and Leutnant Dieter Bohlen, German Luftwaffe ( who wrote a new book these days), in their fantastic Dornier 165´s, then let me know.
it is a lot of work , but for the great community, i will do it.

BTW. Thx to Skychimp, you gave credit for an almost forgotten but still very good plane.
you are hard but fair ,

Bavaria is one of the oldest European states.
It dates back to about 500 A.D., when the Roman Empire was overcome by the onslaught of Germanic tribes. According to a widespread theory, the Bavarian tribe had descended from the Romans who remained in the country, the original Celtic population and the Germanic invaders.
