I found this video on youtube.com, it shows Erich Hartmann next to Hitler.

I think its the only video of Erich Hartmann to survive.

I have seen a video of Erich Hartmann talking long after the war. If I find it I will post it, it was in a German fighter documentary, about the Bf109 I think.

Thanks.

Ohhh two very good sigs

The 'soldier' looks worn out. I wonder if he thought the jewelry was worth having to ˜salute' a nutcase. That was the diamonds no?

Was that the time (supposedly) that Hartmann refused to give up his pistol?

From his memoirs... he was drunk both times that he'd met hitler. They would go without food for 3 days at a time then... that's why he looks so scrawny/thin.

You'd also play the part in this, then survival 'game'. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I may wet my pants when told and then again I may not. You don't know me winky.

I've never been one to go with the flow even if it is 'just' a seat belt law.

That is not to say that I did or can face anything remotely similar to a soldiers war time conditions.

Drunk, hung-over, exhausted, under nourished, delusional, incapacitated, or whatever, my guess is that the thought probably crossed his mind to solve a few problems with one well placed bullet.

What the hell was that cord Hitler pulled on on the table? Was it to call in more ppl to push his chair in place?

What the hell was that cord Hitler pulled on on the table?

It was a microphone.

There are interviews with him on the 'hunters in the skies' series

Looking at that video make u realize what life was like for the German Pilots on the Eastern Front, and how hard life was, facing death everyday, getting a warm meal(or any food at all). 4 years of that and ill go nuts.

I do not think life was better for the Russian Pilots either. They faced death, hunger, disease, and the Russian Cold, on a daily bases.

Anyone notice how thin Eric Hartmann looks in this video? He doesn't look healthy, underweight.

Yeah, After drinking for 3 days without any food, you would look like that too.
