View Full Version : brotherhood, my 2 cents

First off, let me just state that I am not interested in those who do not respect the opinions of others because they disagee. For those; please don't bother to be nasty, I do not entertain those with a closed mind.
My OPINION of brotherhood: First, let me just say that I just played all of the assassin's creed games back to back. Just bought a 360, because I missed the days of game playing. Assassin's creed one: a work of art. Absolutely one of the best games I have ever played (and I am so old I played pong).
Assassin's creed 2: I get it, with one being so well designed, the standard was very high to meet or exceed. With some minor frustration, still a 10/10.
Assassin's creed 3: loved the expansive environment, the detail, the side quests (for the most part). Still all-in-all, a great game.
However, the frustration of evolution is that I notice the game moving away from those of us older gamers by the endless de-synchronizing because you forgot to hop on one foot while drinking a glass of water all while fighting off 20 guards in 30 seconds. In particular, I refer to the end of the game after "an apple a day". chase the protagonist in three minutes while an endless amount of guards appear out of thin air, can evidently fly, since you cannot out maneuver them and have to go an expansive distance while being pummeled. I don't dare fight because the animations for the fantastic counter kill consume so much time, killing 5 guards nearly consume all of the time needed to run.
Programmers, to borrow a phrase describing the frustration of average gamers...please do not ruin the story and game for us by adding the GLS (good luck sucker)aspect to mandatory story line. I understand that there are millions of gamers that need, no, thrive on the nearly impossible. We older gamers, who are drawn in by the genius behind the conspiracy of the control of mankind that is so eloquently intertwined into this series, do not like to be frustrated by forcing the insanely frustrating time constraints and de-syncronizing criterium, in the prime story line. I am sure that I will buy the next in the series, but I really hope that you lean more towards the first in the series, instead of attempting to re-invent the wheel and creating distance to those of us who enjoy the story, and freedom of solving things with our brain, not youthful reflexes and endless time to replay the same scenes over, and over and over. Yes, programmers can do this in their sleep and the younger can, because they do not spend most of their time at work. We just want to enjoy a game to relax...all while appreciating all it has to offer. Let us stop and smell the roses, instead of attempting to memorize via repetitive failure, how to mash buttons in proper sequence.
Sorry my opinion is long winded, and will most likely just garner criticism. But that is the luxury of the first ammendment, which Astergo has failed to steal with their mind control http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
By the way, I have not finished "brotherhood" because the sequence described above became too much of a chore, so the game is now sitting on a shelf. All of Rome is rebuilt, I have done every single thing the game has to offer, except what is beyond this point...all due to an idea to make this so pointlessly difficult, that it has become a chore.

lol you are just off because you can't beat a relatively simple mission that needs somewhat of a thought process http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

TL;DR version: I`m too old and suck at video games and can`t get past this level, please make the next game easier.

I actually agree. It isn't that the game is hard it's just frustrating to have to do something in 2 seconds. It takes away from the fun. I understand the concept of synching ezio's memories I really do and I have said before I like it a lot but it can and should be handled differently. Instead of having some ******ed time limit ( I hate all time limits in games!!!) I wish it was more of finish this sequence by killing the victim with the hidden blade. Those I like but not, finish this mission in a ridiculously short amount of time and take several hits in the process because you aren't allowed to kill anyone either. It just sucks that way.

I must have cheated I do not remember ANY mandatory time limits be it I have yet to complete the guild quests. Correct me if I'm wrong but the only time limits are for 100% sync which you don't have to do to complete the story.

To be honest, I agree that the mission spoken of here is kind of irritating. I can do it in the time limit, but that requires killing people (for now. I'm sure I'll work out a way of doing it eventually). It's all kind of annoying. I also find some of the time limits for 100% synch to be unrealistic, but it doesn't detract much from the fun of the missions (though having FULL SYNCH FAILED!!! pop up is kind of irritating http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

Anyway, before the topic is locked for not being in the Brotherhood feedback thread, can anyone who found the mission easy give me any tips? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

You know what 100% synch frustrated me.
Getting into that castle undetected before getting the apple.
There is a room with 2 guards and a book shelf and I can't figure out how to get through it without being seen.
And it was right near the end of that mission too! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Your objection to the race with Cesare is, frankly, pathetic. I myself am a casual gamer with no great skill at AC, but I can get there with well over a minute remaining and still get 100% synch. Heck, I don't even need to use any weapons. If you keep moving fast enough (horse maybe?? I don't use one though) the bowmen never hit you and eventually lay off.

I was hoping for a much tighter race... such a shame.

Someone objecting to AC being too hard... now we've seen everything.
