It seems that my assertions about Starforce are somewhat off base.

While the problems don't affect everyone they certainly seem to affect a large number of honest, non-haxor members of the community.

I stand corrected and offer humble apologies to those I may have offended/accused.

damn dude, wahd ya say? i saw nothing but the "usual" so maybe i missed it. however, it is a very hot topic because it is very important.

if the sony root kit scandal didn't get people riled up, they'd still be tyring to pass that out. remember the quote from sony? "most people don't even know what a root kit is, so why should they worry about it?"

vista is another to look out for as i was reading about imbedded xms in the operating system. these companies don't realize we're not all sheep. so i say, express yourself...and loudly. but don't insult anyone, especially me as i am quite sensitive. i post back if i figured out you insulted me ElAurens. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

I have not yet had any game that uses StarForce, so I have no experience with it. From reading webboard posts, the one thing that seems free from any accusation of "haxor" complaining is the reports of StarForce hanging up games on startup, often requiring 5 minutes to start the game, as the StarForce driver checks the CD or something like that. That's what I focus on. I will not tolearate any game that takes minutes to start, even if sometimes and sometimes not. That's just not right if the reports are true. One would think as computer hardware gets faster, computers should work faster. But... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

S!
Thanks for taking the time to listen and perhaps learn a bit. That is what true debate and discussion is all about.

This was posted on Starforce's tech support forum by one of their people regarding failure of optictal drives:

Quote:
There might be other programs/factors/bugs besides SF,
that gets activated/appeared only with SF installed.
So, SF might caused indirect influence.
We trying to find that out.
End quote:

The whole thing is here but not worth reading unless you like the "Starforce ruined my system" vs. "It's not possible" routine.

It's interesting to see "might caused indirect influence" from an outfit that offers $10,000 to anyone who can prove that SF harmed their drive(s):

Elaurens, I think you is ok.

That said, but not thought out, not to mention, pointless, I lost me point.

Any way, in time, not so distant future, I will recover from this tragic occerance. I hope by that time, I can forgive you. Forgive you for what - I don't know.
